Rapid Wear On Pirelli P7's, Normal ?
I had my 2021 F Type R in for the annual service yesterday. It had only 6684 miles on the odometer. It will be 2 years old at the end of this month. They did the usual oil & filter change and surprisingly also changed the pollen filter and flushed the brake fluid. The inspection report has a "Needs Attention Soon" note that the tire tread depths are down to just over 6/32" on the fronts and between 4&5/32" on the rears. And asked if I wanted a quote on replacing them. Hell no, not with another set of P7's P Zeros !
I remember that the old school of thought was that when the tread depth reached 2/32" it was time to replace them. The Tire Rack website says if one does a lot of driving on wet roads then you should replace the tires at 4/32" and under snow conditions, replace them at 5/32". Well, my Jag is a fair weather driver only. I have a Mazda CX 5 for daily use and driving in the rain and occasional snow that we get up here in the mountains where I live.
Anyway, I don't drive my F Type hard but a lot of it is done on twisty mountain roads so I'm sure that creates a lot more wear than if I had accumulated 6000 miles on the freeways. I was hoping to get at least 20,000 miles out of theP7's P Zeros but it looks like they are already more than halfway down. A set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires will run about $1950 plus installation and a set of Continental ECS Extreme Contact Sport tires will run about $1725.
Are others experiencing rather short tread life on theP7's P Zeros?

There was another thread recently complaining of rapid wear on the OEM Pirellis.
As I recall the other car was also a 2021 R.
My experience is quite different with a 2021 V6 R-Dynamic.
After the first Summer (8,000 miles) the fronts were at 8/32+ and the rears at 6/32+.
Driving style was mixed - spirited whenever the opportunity allowed!!
So, I figured about 16K miles before replacement.
Not great but much better than what you are seeing.
Is the wear even - did they check alignment?
Perhaps the issue is related to the extra HP (550 vs 380) but I would expect that mostly to affect the rears.
FYI, I am presently running Michelin A/S PS4s in the Winter, and they wear better than the Summer Pirellis

Meanwhile, back in the real world:
We got ~14K - 16K miles out of two sets of rear PZeros.

What are P7s? Surely the OP means P-Zero? In any case, the OEM tires are…hmmm…is there a polite way to describe them in comparison to Continentals or Michelins?
I replaced the P-Zeros on my F-Type as soon as I could justify doing so. The positive difference with the Michelins was amazing.

I've only ever had Dunlops or Pirellis on the 4 Jags I've owned and never got more than 10,000 miles out of any of the rears. Even fewer on the generic, non-J-marked Dunlop. Now have MPS4Ss on the back of the F-Type so I'll see if they last any longer.

Sorry, I meant P Zeros. I have edited my post. I think I had a set of P7's on another car years ago and that must have popped up in my brain. That's what I get for posting before I have had my second cup of coffee.
The inspection report said the alignment was OK but honestly I'll bet they didn't check it. It's more likely they just observed that the wear on the tires was even. I guess I had better plan on replacing them in a few thousand more miles.
I owned a 1993 Toyota MR2 that was horrible on tires. It had Yokohama's, I forget which type but they were high performance. I used to only get 8000 miles on the rears and 25,000 miles on the fronts and they were staggered sizes so couldn't be rotated. I had Michelin Pilot Sport 4's on my Nissan 370Z and went through a couple of sets getting about 25,000 miles each time but I wasn't living in the mountains then and it was pretty much all freeway commuting miles. They were great tires so I'll probably go with those for my F Type.
Now I just need to find an installer that won't damage the car or the wheels doing the installation.

My Aston Martin has chewed through a set of P Zero on the rear in just over 12 months and 7,000 miles.
The PS4S's on my XKR, which has well over 100bhp more than the Aston, have lasted 2.5 years and 11,000 miles which has included 2 trips to the drag strip and 4 track days! They are getting low but have at least another 3 or 4 thousand miles left in them.
I have just put some PS4S's on the rear of the Aston and it is now actually usable in the cold and/or wet. I don't have anything good to say about P Zeros!

Have other members experienced increased road noise with the Michelin PS4S tires over the Pirelli P Zero's ? That is a concern to me. My Nissan 370Z had so much road noise that it was practically unbearable, especially on the grooved sections of freeway which are pretty much most of California. I went through two sets of the PS4S tires on it and they didn't seem any noisier than the original set of Yokohamas or whatever they were. They sure did stick like glue in the corners and overall I was pleased with their performance.
The F Type is much quieter than the 370Z but still has some road noise that seems tire related and I certainly wouldn't want to increase it.
