I went with the Michelins. The DWS06 was unavailable in the 18's. My 16 was on it's (probably) 2nd set of Conti Sport contact 2's. After a couple hundred miles I can say that the Michelins are a big improvement in ride quality and quietness.
I had the same issue with P4S, ended up going with Conti ECS - took it to autox and trackcross and worked great. Would recommend if you are looking for another option.
The Pirelli Pzeros were crap from day one. We are recommending the PS4S’s because they are a huge upgrade to the car. Period.
I recently had to replace the rear PS4S’s. The Rack and Discount Direct were showing sold out but my local Discount store found a set in another store and had them shipped down here. Supposedly they are sold out “for the season” and will be available for next summer.
Absolutely agree Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are a great choice.
i ended up with the super sport, unfortunately I havent driven my car with the PS 4's so I cant say the difference. this review suggests the supersport is better as a road tyre with occasional track use, i can vouch for the ride comfort, even on 21's the ride is sublime https://www.sdwheel.com/blogs/893/mi...ot-super-sport
i might say though that they have been on the car for maybe 3 years, about 20,000km, I am noticing loss of traction (significant when accelerating) which doesnt concern me, and a little loss of lateral grip (i.e. sideways movement), which does make the heart flutter, I wouldnt say that with them in their current state I would be confident to push the car to extremes, if there was a nearby tree or wall, not that I would have anyway.
It is now tire time for me. I have staggered wheels with 245/40-19 in front and 255/40-19 rear. I have only driven on the Continental Extreme Contact tires that are now worn. These are now sold as Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus or Sport 02. Anybody riding on either of these? I welcome any insights if you have staggered wheels and good results with a particular brand or tire. Summer only tires are okay as I have other vehicles for cold. The prices on Tire Rack for a set of 4 are all over the map, from $2,100 for Dunlop Sport down to $641 for Kuhmo Majesty (which ran fine on my Lincoln, just a bit noisy). What would you put on your Jag?

I guess my first question is about the rear tire size. Factory should have been 275/35-19. Do you have aftermarket wheels that are a different size or did someone slap some funky sized tires on the back? According to 1010tires calculator the 255/40’s are acceptable but if it were me, I’d want the 20mm back.
For summers’ the PS4S can’t be beat but they sure ain’t cheap. If you wanted to save $100 per corner I’d consider the DWS 06 plus.

HIs sig says he's got a 2004 Jag XK8, not an F-Type - something needs clarifying here!
Yes, both correct, this is for the XK8. Here is what it says under my center arm rest. This being said, comments welcome from anyone on alternative 19 inch sizes as I am not considering a plus one.
P.S. Apologies for posting this in the F-Type forum. I got here directly by searching for tire recommendations and did not notice it took me away from XK8. I need to be more careful to not wander so far from my own villiage, but since I'm here I still value your tire opinions. Thanks. 2004 Jaguar XK8 tire chart

I mentioned above, I really like the ride and handling from the michelin pilot supersports on the f Type. I had them put on my wife's XE to replace 19's P zeros on the front after it got a bulge from a pothole, they are an improvement on that as well, even in her mind. I have them on the Mustang as well (20's) which has a nice ride despite its agricultural underpinnings.
i had dunlops on my XKR (SP Sportmaxx), they were a dreadful tyre, expensive, hard, slippery. Everything that you dont want in a tyre. Maybe they had sat on a shelf and went hard over time.

For summers I'd go Michelin PS4S or Conti ECS - btw the Conti DWS you mention are all seasons whereas the Contact Sports are summers.
Sorry, felt the need to chime in on this topic, even though most have answered similar. For the F-Type, the Michelins are rated, reviewed and most often discussed as the best summer performance tire to go with. A close second, would be the Continental ECS. I think in theory, the PS4 is the most notorious tire not just for the F, but other makes/models as well. Not sure why Pirelli is so frequently the OEM choice, other than cost, in comparison to some of their competitors. But I also think a lot has to do with you, how you plan to run your car and what you want the tires to do for you. If you don't drive aggressively (not sure why own this car if you don't on occasion), then any of the all season tires would be a fine choice and probably net you longer tread life. If you are however more often driving a little more spirited, then you could either go with the currently available (although sometimes hard to find) PS4 or Conti ECS or wait for both of the next generation versions to become available. I have heard the PS5 is technically announced, but impossible to find and even still, some earlier reviewers have indicated to stick with the PS4. I know of many however that are running the Conti's, love them and sometimes can be found up to $100 per tire (less) that the Michelin's.
With all that said, as bad as the Pirelli tires are, I have been running the OEM tires since I first got the car. I definitely have some grip issues in certain situations and eventually will replace with Michelin's once it is finally time, but the front tires over the last 2 years have worn extremely well and the rear tires needed to be replaced, but found a brand new set for $200, so I could not pass that up for now, but nevertheless, I have driven in a car with the Michelins and Contis, not much of a difference, but definitely would think the Michelins are the way to go. (Although Conti's offer a killer roadhazard warranty).

replaced the old stock worn Pirelli's in the rears (fronts had at least 75% left) with PS4S and it totally changed the car. no longer a tail happy car. can now put full power down from a dead stop and taking turns are no longer scary with the amount of grip that it now has. I can feel the fronts start to lose grip (understeer) so am close to the limit on them, rears are still holding but I tend to be careful applying throttle since I'm RWD. on slower turns, I can still easily get the rears to step out. as for wear, that is not a concern for me as I drive less than 3k miles/year so after 5 years, I should be getting new tires anyway (warranty is 15k miles since they are not able to be rotated).
Hello Good People:
Here is a follow up on this interesting tire conversation. I finally got around to finishing the tire project on my XK8, but some of this may be relevant to the F-type. Based on the good advice in this forum, I got the Michelins from Tirerack with rebate. The ride and handling has improved. My Jag has staggered wheels so I went with the stock size front and a wider rear as follows: F: 245/40ZR-19 Michelin Pilot Sport all season 4XL R: 265/40ZR-19 Michelin Pilot Sport all season 4XL (noting the OEM size is 255/40)
I had the Wheel Medic true each wheel and powder coat to show less brake dust. Here are before and after pictures for the record: OEM staggered wheels with Continental Extreme OEM wheels metallic grey powder with Michelin Pilot and wider rears.
I'm running PIRELLI P ZERO CORSA (PZC4) PNCS MC 305/30ZR20 on the rears. They are pricey but they stick really well and provide a reliable backend performance when on the power. I'm running over 600 ft/lb torque with the RWD V8.
Another benefit, is that the tires are extremely quite.
I also run these tires on a Corvette C7 with 850ft/lb torque. So much better than the CUP2's which were scary and dangerous.
A tire with an 80 treadwear rating would be half-worn by the time I got out of my development!
😂, yep. They’re good for about 2K. I’m trying these with a 220 rating next. Only $307 a piece at Discount. EAGLE F1 SUPERCAR 3305 /30 R20 99Y SL BSW GM
