Default Replacing the Rear Lamp Assembly on my 2015 F-Type

4+ years of ownership (from new), 31,000 fun miles and no problems. My 87 year-old father had a medical emergency and I backed out of the garage in the middle of the night forgetting my daughter parked her 2008 Acura MDX in the driveway. Bang. Nice dent in the Acura, I thought I escaped with no damage to my F-Type but....2 months later I discovered the right-rear tail-lens was cracked and a chip fell out of it. I sourced a good replacement on eBay for $350, but I'm looking for some support from my fellow forum members before I tackle this job...

Repair looks simple: 1) disconnect the battery, 2) jack up the rear of the car, 3) remove the rear bumper cover, 4) replace the tail-light assembly.
Amazing you don't really need any tools besides one torqux driver bit, everything else is press-fit snap-fasteners.
What I'm struggling with before I begin is this is a "technique" repair, not a tool job. "Just grab and rip the panel off and the fir-tree fasteners will pop out" -- right?
Not sure I trust myself to start forcefully pulling panels of my mistress, would love to hear from others who have done this.

Thanks for posting the https://parts.jaguarreno.com link -- I can source extra fasteners should I break some -- should I order a few?
I've posted the relevant TOPIX pages for my repair to help others.

Don’t bother removing the bumper cover. Just remove the lower valance. You might not even have to do that to get at the 3 bolts on each lamp.

Thanks for the tip: do I have to remove the fasteners inside the wheel-well?
And thanks Unhingd for your earlier posts on this and related topics.

No, the wheel wells can stay in place.

Thanks Unhingd - I'll give it a go over the next few days.
I'll post back how it goes. Grateful for your presence on this forum!

I was going by memory (often a dangerous thing to do at my age) and just checked to make certain. You will easily be able to R&R the rear fogs without removing any panels or skins whatsoever.

This is the "new" part I need to install (its from a 2014, I assume no problem putting it in my 2015):
Rear Lamp Assembly

Jaguar F-Type Rear Lamp Assembly

My apologies. I must have confused your question with another thread. For that assembly, the whole bumper skin needs to be removed. And yes, the wheel wells need to be disconnected from the skin.

No problem Unhingd! Always grateful for your wisdom and experience with these cars.
I'm going to order extra fasteners from Reno Jaguar

FWIW, wouldn't your insurance cover this -- correctly done -- for just your deductible?

OK - Status update: I chickened out and decided to have a professional replace the Rear Lamp Assembly. I just picked up the car: I think I made the right call. Total: $648.07 + whatever it costs me to remove the dent from my daughter's Acura MDX (not happening anytime soon).

Costs:
eBay used Right Rear Lamp Assembly (from a 2014 F-Type): $325.00 (cost of new unit is $750 if ordered from Dealer).
Bill from auto body shop for installation: $323.07 In at 9:30 AM, picked-up by 1:00 PM.

The right rear wheel liner did have to be separated from the bumper skin and the bumper skin pulled back to replace the lamp. No plastic clips or fasteners were broken.
The auto body shop said they fixed a broken rear lamp assembly on an F-Type R "just last month" after the owner backed up into a dumpster late one night. No word on how the dumpster fared.

Default Update: rear lamp assembly replaced professionally

Update: I chickened out and decided to have professionals replace the rear lamp assembly. I think I made the right call.
Costs:
eBay used right rear lamp from an auto salvage company: $325 (new at the dealer the part is $750)
Auto Body work: $323.07, total spent: $648.07
The right rear wheel well liner needed to be separated from the rear bumper cover and the bumper cover pulled back in order to fit the rear lamp assembly. No plastic clips were broken. I dropped the car off at 9:30 AM and it was ready 4 hours later. The auto body shop said they did exactly the same repair on an F-Type R just last month after the owner backed up into a dumpster late at night.

Default 2014 F-Type rear tail light stud

Having difficulty removing damaged light. Can anyone tell me how to disconnect the stud on the tail light. Although there's an access port in the trunk. I see no bolt securing the stud. This is the only thing holding me up from detaching the old light assembly.
