I managed to pull a bit to far forward today on 2018 F-Type R and scraped the hell out of the lower spoiler and scaled up the brand new Sto N Sho mounting bracket. My plate wasn’t on yet while waiting for new state plates.

I’ll need to inspect closer but us there a good place to but these lower spoiler parts other than my local Jag dealer?

 

Honestly, mine gets scraped now and then. Some people clean it up after it starts to fray and I wouldn't bother replacing it. At the very least, get used to how it deals with driveways, speed bumps, etc. I still scrape mine now and then.

 

i didn’t mind scraping the plastic but scraping the Sto N Sho bracket breaks my heart since I installed it yesterday. If the plate had been on, I’d be exceptionally unhappy.

 

Really unlikely to find these anywhere but dealer (or BritCar in UK). They are not terribly expensive though...And if not too bad, you can always sand them smooth and/or wrap them with vinyl (I keep mine wrapped with gloss black vinyl). Replace wrap when scuffed.

Did exactly that, driving through a subdivision with speed bumps and not paying attention. Curled the edges of my plate inward slightly (easy to fix), but actually scraped the pull ring right out of the Sto N Sho bracket. Bracket release still works, though.

 

My solution after 8 years is to not look under the front of my car. I know it's shredded.

 

I'm scraping mine every day, my solution is to just not look. The plastic is there to protect the expensive carbon fibre bits, as far as I'm concerned it's doing its job by getting ruined.
I am going to check the state of my Sho N Sto now though...

 

I just took the damn thing off. I'm not sure if it provided any airflow management or not, but it hasn't seemed to negatively affect the car's cooling or driving dynamics. The only difference that I've noticed is a lack of scraping sounds. I'm pretty careful when navigating steep inclines and speed bumps and haven't rubbed anything else....yet.

 

I keep mine on for audible warning when clearance is low. So far it's kept me from scraping any hard parts. I've got a better feel for clearance now so it's done its job to train me. I made a little tool to clean up the edge but don't need to use it much anymore. A small scraper or a putty knife works well too.

 

So far, just a minor scrape that could be "sanded" down and touched up with paint to "no show" status.
I did think that if I do get it more scraped it would be easy to cover the edge with black U-shaped car door edge trim that would simply push on and grip until the next grounding.
Then for most situations, the door trim would be the sacrificial part at 30 cents a foot on Ebay!!

 

I use a couple of small pieces of the clear door edge protector on the front spoiler areas that are likely to scrape. Works well and not too visible. Been using them since I bought the car in 2015 after some bad scrapes on the sacrificial spoiler. I bought a replacement sacrificial spoiler from an online Jag dealer parts dept years back for a decent price, but haven't installed it yet since current one is holding up.

 

My sacrificial spoiler gives a little bit of itself every day when I pull in and out of my garage. I have a steep, short driveway and the spoiler drags.

Search the part numbers on eBay. They will be cheaper than at the dealer. That’s where I got mine (total cost for all 3 under $110), but I never installed them, opting instead to shave off the streamers once per year until the whiskers are noticeably smaller than they were when new.

 

I replaced mine when I got my car in June because they were all scraped up. They were $107.82 + tax + shipping from Harper if that helps anyone. $26.44 for the center one and each side was $40.69.

 

As I mentioned above, while not too expensive I wrapped mine with gloss black 3M wrap, and when it gets scraped (luckily not yet!), I will just peel off and smooth it and re-wrap it. That is the plan anyway...
