Spare Fakra plugs. I have to unclip them and move them forward to create extra room for garage remote board. Wrapped them in cloth tape to stop rattles
Put electrical tape on the bare roof metal to prevent any shorts to the garage remote board
Unclipped and lifted up panel containing the microphones so could paste touch sensor to the middle of this area
picture below shows garage remote fixed to the overhead console. Note the remote board has 2 of the physical switches needed for this project. You need at least one Secure the pcb with zip tie or any method to stop it moving around
side note about the switch: to trigger you have to maintain contact for at least 1 second. Can be longer than this too. It will only send the trigger signal when you remove you finger. I though it was the opposite and it would send the trigger as soon as it is touched so thought it was not working when pressing and holding my finger on the sensor. Spent a lot of wasted time troubleshooting and resoldering joins before working this out.
Also garage remote has to have the physical button to solder onto. Newer ones have a different circuit printed pattern that gets completed when touch by the back of the rubber button. Luckily my system came with a third remote for the house that had a physical switch that I could solder onto
