Default SmartTop

Hello Fellow Owners,

I am thinking about buying the smartTop so I can take off the top remotely. Will this void Jag's warranty by any chance?

Thanks in advance.

It's not officially sanctioned, but should be low risk. The unit is just inserted between a plug and connector in the wiring for the top. Quick to install and can be temporarily deactivated before you go in for service, if you like (or even removed without much effort). If you had an electrical problem with the roof, it could be called out as suspect. But, I don't see that as a material risk. In practice, I have left mine in place and active for the past year+. My dealer has had no issue. It's a neat little addition.

I wouldn't worry about that. I hadn't updated the firmware in mine before I installed it, and as a result, I couldn't deactivate it. To be extra-cautious, I removed mine before taking it in for service, which only takes 5 minutes or less.

I upgraded the firmware so I can disable it now. It's a great addition to the car.

I have it installed in mine. It is really easy to disable it before you take it in for service and there would be no reason thy would know you had it unless there is a specific problem with the roof and they went in there looking. If I was taking the car to a dealer for a roof problem I would definitely take it out first which wouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

Having said all that long experience with JLR Australia tells me they will find any excuse to deny a warranty claim.

You can have mine for $275 shipped. I had it for 3 months and then sold my jag for a new Boxster Spyder.
