I'm waiting on the Coupe, I got a couple of build-your-own configurations already saved on the factory website.

BEAUTIFUL!!!!! If you can get rid of the front license plate, it looks even better! In CA we are supposed to have one, but the police usually let it go in the beach cities

We have the same laws here in Texas. Since they just went into effect again this last year the police are pretty stringent on enforcing it right now. I chose this one over the other V6 I was looking at because it didn't have the black wheels.
Looks Great. I think the Tornado Wheels look the best and I also like the silver better than the black. Thanks for your comment about not missing the XKR as I am thinking about getting a F Type Coupe but my fear is that I would miss the XKR.
The 0-60 time is slightly slower in the F but its a smoother transition, and the sound is indescribable. My main motivation was how big of a gas hog the XKR was. I averaged 10 to 11 MPG in the city most of the time. You should go test drive one it just feels like a sports car should. And hey we never really ever use the XKR back seats anyways.
Congratulations on your new F-type. I'm sure it is the right car for you. However, I would never trade my XKR for it--I always use my back seat. I use it for papers and folders I need to carry around. If I go shopping I have a lot of interior space for anything I should buy without needing to put in on my passengers lap. I also have sizable space in the hatch to put my carry on bag for daily short plane trips. For me, my XKR can't be replaced. I have my Merc SLK 55 AMG as my sunny day roadster which may turn into a full blown up 600hp F-type RS when available. My XKR meets my needs and more. My 10 year old daughter loves the back seat.

The XKR is a beauty to drive TO the roads and has room for my 6 year old and the dog. It's also livable on date nights too since its civilized, doesn't rattle and isn't on KWv3's with the smell of unburnt gas. Not as much fun as 400ish bhp and >3,000 pounds with a man pedal but its not too bad.
Want to have fun ON the twisties or have company getting TO them was my choice. You just have to decide where you want to point the needle one way or the other. The F Type is a good compromise between what I described but it's just off center from the middle to the GT side IMO. If I felt more ambitious I would make a chart - HA!
The Ftype vs XKR debate will last so long as both are in production but they have a different purpose all together. Even though the F type is hardly any lighter...

Not that it matters, but the F-Type V8S is lighter than the XKR coupe with a close to identical power output and the benefit of the 8 speed ZF rather than the old six speed. With that and also the evidence of the magazine tests reporting much faster times than the official numbers, I really don't see the V8S being anything other than a bit quicker than the XKR for the 0-60 sprint.
It's hardly any lighter - the exterior dimensions are also not very different ... and don't forget that magazines tested the XKR much faster than what Jaguar claimed also.
That ZF 8 speed is awesome though.
According to Jaguar USA the difference is about 300lbs, not massive, but it's most certainly noticeable (and notably the lighter car is also the convertible). As the for mag tests, the differences do seem to be in the F-Type's favor. I don't disagree that the XKR did better than its official time, but the F-Type tests show a bigger discrepancy with a fair few mags reporting 0-60 times in the mid to late threes and sub-12 second quarter miles. With that said, both are very fast cars.

Congrats. My car purportedly has a build date this Wednesday for delivery in mid-March. Hopefully by then Chicago will have thawed out.
I just came from Chicago on business. I'm not sure if its every going to thaw out this year.
