Default Sorry another fuse removal question…

Hello- coming from 2014v8s to “new to me” 2017 R the pops and crackles are so muted now especially at low rpm and yes I have in dynamic sport and exhaust open all the time…want to get a consensus on removing the fuse(I believe fuse 15 for me) ….would love to hear from any longtime users that have removed fuse: any issues, faults, concerns, etc? Thx in advance!

When I’ve removed the fuse (F43 in my ‘14), it drones pretty badly at highway speeds with the top up. So I installed one of the remote relays for that purpose.

One of the first things I did when I got my MY18 was to remove fuse 15. Never looked back. No issues.

@synthesis Great to hear! How long have you driven since fuse removal?

Same here, but coupe not 'vert.
Too much drone on a long uphill climb when using around 1/3 throttle or cruising at (ahem) "speed", so I stuck fuse 43 back in and simply use the exhaust loud/quiet button.

Just got my 2024 about 3 days ago. Took out fuse 15 today, what a difference. I didn't take it on the highway and I'm still in the break in period with 120km on the clock so I'm not letting it get above around 3500rpm but it sounds sooooo good with the fuse out. Basically no drone driving between 0-70 km/h if you drive in normal but still improved sound. Lots of burbles, snarls, pops from 1000-3500 rpm in sport mode (the mode you go in when you pull the gear selector stick towards you).

The only down side is startup, it's extremely loud. After pulling out the fuse I opened the garage door (car still inside) and turned the car on to test if it worked. Wife said it shook the house.

You may get away with no or at least minimal drone even after break in, it seems the V6 drones more than the V8.
The V6 and V8 have different firing orders and different exhaust pulse scavenging effects and this is why after mucho R&D the JLR engineers put different exhaust systems on them.
The V8 has an X-pipe in the middle of the exhaust but no central resonator(s) whilst the V6 has a central resonator but no X-pipe, and from what I have read putting an X-pipe on the V6 (especially if the resonator is also removed) will create no increase or improvement in performance or exhaust note and will most likely just cause excessive drone.

I drove without the #15 fuse in my MY18 for over two years without any issue.

Or away from you if you're driving on the right side of the car.
Have you tried manual shifting by moving the stick forwards and backwards (sport mode only)?

A couple of things I noticed after buying my 2021 R Model:
There is definitely a break in period with regards to how the exhaust system sounds. I found that the characteristics started to change after around 1000-1200 miles, both with and without the exhaust in the open mode either by pressing the console button or in the Dynamic mode.

I pulled Fuse # 15. The effect was different than just pressing the console button. It was a bit louder and more aggressive sounding all the time. It was fun, but after about a 50 mile round trip down the State Highway and back up the mountain I decided it was too much of a good thing. I like DJS's idea of a remote relay, there is a thread here somewhere that details how it was done and how it can be switched on and off with a wireless remote fob type device if I recall. I thought about wiring a manual toggle or rocker switch in to the Fuse # 15 position and mounting it under the dash but was worried about maintaining the weatherproofing of the whole assembly and attachment & entry points into the cabin so gave up that idea.
