Default Spacer studs and OEM wheel "pockets"

Just got the F-TYPE lowered on some Eibach springs. Height is perfect. Now..just need to work on the stance.

I've done my research and it appears that if you run spacers with studs, you'll need to shave down the OEM studs to ensure proper fitments UNLESS you have the "carbon blade" wheel as it has pockets on the rear. But it looks like most if not all of the OEM F-TYPE wheels have the pockets; is the matter of depth of the pocket? I have the 20" Tornados.

yes

are you going with 15mm spacers? If so, it would be great if you post the final results!

Yep, its all about the depth of the pockets.
So far the Blade wheels are the only known stock F-Type wheels which have deep enough pockets for 15 mm or thinner spacers to fit without the studs fouling on the backs of the wheels.
Which means to fit 15 mm spacers you would need to shave/cut/grind some 3 mm off the studs.
You can try 20 mm spacers which would allow the studs not to foul but I found that the rear tyres scraped on bouncy roads at speed, and thats with the stock 20 inch wheels and 295/30ZR20 tyres on VAP springs, so the lower Eibach springs would be even more prone to scraping.
Lots of earlier threads and post about this where it was discovered that 17 mm spacers are the sweet spot if you dont already have Blade wheels.
(sorry, my apostrophe key has stopped working!)

I believe we spoke earlier on this via email as well. You would need to shave down some of the OEM studs to fit spacers with your OEM Wheel style. The pockets are not recessed enough for the OEM studs to fit. See picture below.

This is what my research determined. If you had wheels other than the carbon blades, you would need to run a 17-18mm spacer to clear the studs without shaving. Which is why I was interested in VAP's spacers as they have an 18mm and 20 mm option.

Scott, please see above. That was why i reached out as VAP's website stated that the 18mm would fit most OEM wheels. The assumption was that the 18mm was created for this situation. Also, when VAP launched the spacers, Stuart claimed the 18mm was a direct fit and bolt on....apparently there was 10mm option at some point that was a slip on??? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...pacers-273611/

The Tornado wheels have one of the least recessed area for where the studs would need to go. Even with the 18mm spacer it is likely these would need to be slightly shaved down.

Here is another example of a different style F-Type OEM wheel that would work with these spacers. You can see the difference in the recessed area that would accommodate the studs.

@WhiteTardis I sent you an email last night as well, but for the sake of this thread, I was logged into my personal account last night when I made the above post, but yes the Tornado wheels have the least recessed area for studs to go, hence why we indicate that the 18mm spacers will work with most wheels (but not all) without modification. There are a couple of options.
  • Shave down the stock studs to fit
  • Remove the hubs and tap out the stock studs, more work, but no longer an issue
As much as we'd love to confirm the compatibility of each wheel fitment, it is not feasible with so many variations

I put in 15mm, front and rear and ended up having to take a couple of millimeters off the factory studs. The wheels have pockets, but even so it wasn't enough. I might have been able to avoid it with 18mm spacers, but it likely would have been close. It's not a huge deal, probably 10 minutes per wheel with an angle grinder.

@scott@VelocityAP any knowledge on 2017 BDE wheel pockets? I am looking to put 15mm spacers on front and rear, I was wondering if I will need to plan on cutting wheel studs?

Thx Aaron

The cast for these is very similar to other model wheels with not much space pocket areas. I cannot confirm this 100%, but would assume some grinding of the OEM studs or removal would be required.
