That must be the 2016 AWD. It appears to be much better behaved than its RWD brother.

That clip is an older one from Series 22, Episode 7... It's the 2015 RWD R Coupe.

Unless I missed some NEW clip?

That's the lap that was on the final aired episode which was the R RWD. They haven't done anything with the AWD one yet.

edit: TXJagR got me by 1 minute.

I was going to say, you must have the V6... but, I guess it was only a few seconds. Just a drivers race, not the car.

Tire pressure was low, had to pump up.

Not from where I was watching...that thing was all over the road!

The Stig might have had a few wobbles here and there, but he did manage to take advantage of full track width without putting the car sideways too much. As he wasn't in an AWD, it's a testament to his driving skills. All the wanna bes in most of the you-tube video's are burning up tires, scrubbing off speed through the turns, and coming nowhere close to the fast line through the turns.

You want to be all over the road on a road course. (you've been spending too much time on the 1/4 mile )

I totally agree about how many people like to video the F-Type burning up tires and throwing smoke through all the turns. Even Clarkson was more of a hooligan in the car than attempting to drive FAST through the proper cornering lines. Drifting through the turns and smoking the tires might LOOK cool, but it's certainly not the FASTEST way around the track!

I think most of it has to do with the fact that TopGear tests aren't on a proper track at all. It's sections of tarmac and runway from a shut-down former RAF airfield. The Stig has figured out the fastest line around that odd configuration, which certainly makes it look like he's "all over the road."

No,living close to Laguna,I know a thing or two about tracking a car and using the entire track, you could tell the tail wanted to break loose but some quick hand maneuvers by The Stig kept it in line...

So does anyone know where it ranked among the other cars on Top Gear's famous board?

Would have been nice if they also had taken the F-Type convertible around the track to have another reference track.

That's not a bad time. I figured that car would be somewhere near the 1:23 mark but it's not that far off from some pretty good track cars.

Agreed. If you look at the top 40, there are only 4-5 street cars below $200K that are quicker. The other quicker cars under $200K are not street cars, such as the Aerial Atom and Radical. There are only 2 street cars (C7 and GT-R) that are both quicker and less expensive than the F-Type R.

And a wee bit quicker I would suspect with the AWD set up.
Lawrence.

Yep, I would guess it will move up about 10 spots to C7 (non-Z06) and GT-R territory.
