Default Strange occurence "Gearbox fault"

Got in the car this morning, and tried to start it. It fired up, but there was a yellow warning triangle in the cluster with the message "Gearbox fault"
The gearbox selector, would not move from park. killed it and started it again...same error. I then took the fob out of my pocket, and put it in the center tray, and restarted...........message went away and all is good.
Anyone had this happen before ?............is it just one of those fluke occurrences that these cars are noted for, or am I looking at transmission issues down the road. The car has just over 7000 miles on it ?????

Mine did that a couple of years ago, and a couple of others on the forum have, as well. None have proved to be a serious problem. It seems to clear after a restart (or two). The dealer replaced a brake sensor/switch that they thought might have caused the problem. Whether it was purely random or fixed, I haven't had the problem since.

Have the dealer check this service bulletin:

JTB00324NAS1 - Transmission Stuck in Park on Start Up

One other possibility is a failing or weak battery, which can cause all sorts of electrical 'faults' if the voltage drops. The battery should have a minimum of 12.6 volts across the terminals with the ignition in the OFF position for at least ten minutes.

I had this exact problem on a demo car when Jaguar launched the F-type in 2013. Likely an early build software issue on your 2014, I have never seen it on other 6+ automatic F-types I've driven.
