If you do a Ftype forum search for phone holder there are more than two dozen threads that discuss various options.

here is one of them: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...holder-194505/

There's a Weather Tech that goes in cup holder.

I am curious as to why a phone holder would be needed since the phone can be paired with car's system...mine stays in my pocket or in the bin on the door.

For satnav, I use Waze.
Way more accurate and up-to-date than the inbuilt satnav.
There may be other good reasons to mount your phone on a holder but that's the only one I use.

I use Waze to track speed traps. The cup holder position and the Jebus bar mount are useless as you have to look down to see the display. The iMagnet suction mount placed right on top of the S logo in front of the pop up vent is a perfect place to safely scan both displays while driving.

Yep, I have the exact same gadget, just mounted on the other side because RHD vs LHD, see here: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Scosche-...cAAOSwFwRe1OPQ
Works a charm, only a tad below eye level and doesn't vibrate at all, what's not to like!

Me too.
Although now I have CarPlay I’m finding new things to display on the phone while it’s charging.

I prefer mine in the other side to avoid contact when I’m flailing around with the steering wheel.

I was thinking of removing mine once I install my UAD, but I like your idea better.

Maybe there would be less flailing if you didn't have the possibility to fire missiles

Bruno, yes, please about the bracket. I found the Iottie magnetic fast charger. Looks like a ball and socket bracket on the back. Would like some pictures and measurements of that if possible to see if it's compatible with any existing cigarette lighter brackets. Or show us your 3D printed adapter, though I don't have access to a 3D printer. Any help is appreciated.

This solution is great for no cables. Bracket slides on the dash gap and the Iottie needs to be trimmed with a dremel to be flat and glued on it.

This weekend i'll make a better bracket as this one could be a bit smaller, test it and give you the model with instructions, is very easy to order it on a 3D printing hub service like https://www.3dhubs.com/.

I used to have a phone mount on the top trim panel like most people here, but now I have a custom setup to address alot of my frustrations. I wanted something easier to interact with, larger visibility, and elegant design, so I went with finding a way to mount my iPad Pro (Cellular option is critical to have GPS!). The same mount can be used for my phone if I don't have my iPad, but with this my phone isn't even useful in the car anymore, although I use the it as a hotspot. What is nice about this is my passenger can take it off and put in directions for me or change the music. Also the bigger screen helps me handle these myself.

The only big downside here is that I can't use the infotainment system (but I don't use it anyways, at all except for pairing) and it sticks out. The next version I want try is mounting it horizontal between the top panel and the infotainment system, so its cleaner.

**EDIT** also forgot to mention another downside, glare. If the sun is above its a bit hard to see even with an anti glare screen protector. It's usually ok because I'm not staring at the screen all the time.

Yeah, but time marches on, as does innovation, as does experience. I think it's not necessarily helpful to do the "google it" thing, vs letting people recommend options.
One of the threads you are speaking about includes a scam punk from UK who 3D prints total garbage and then doesn't back up his claims or warranty.
So maybe allowing someone to ask this question 12 months later will illuminate better options and new technologies, eh?

I for one am here for this thread. I want to see a proper solution to the phone thing. There have been a number of flawed solutions. Hopefully this thread nails it.

EDIT: MBourne, this answer has the slight tinge of feeling sassier than I wanted. LOL Pardon. =)

I agree. I want Bruno's solution for my preference. I'd give money if someone already was selling that set up. But alas, I will make my own from frankensteining the two products that should really already be one.
