Supercharger tsb
I know this has been covered but what is the sign that the " nub" on the front supercharger has to be replaced as per the tsb. I remember that the supercharger needs to be removed and Jag has an updated part. Any help or guide as to where to find the tsb would be greatly appreciated.
It's not a "nub" it's the supercharger coupler or torsion isolator.
Different versions for the V6 and V8 and two separate JTBs, both from 2014 but I believe there is a later one for the V6 (NAS2) and maybe the V8 as well
Both of the earlier ones are attached.
The "signs" are a pronounced rattle at start up, very irregular though and like marbles in a tin can, which settles down a little as the engine warms up, and a loud "clonk" on shut down.

I have found that JTB00356NAS1 was superseded by JTB00356NAS2 which was issued on 19 Sept 2016.
Which means that the later version should apply to your car although I have no idea how long after that it applies and I am unable to find a copy of NAS2.
Also it's a JTB, a Jaguar Technical Bulletin, and not a safety recall, which means it entitles you to a free repair/replacement for the term of the factory new car warranty only, and once the factory warranty expires you are on your own which I guess means you are out of luck.

JTB00356NAS2 that is, attached.
No change from NAS1 that I can see and as for the F-Type it seems to apply to MY 2014 only although I had this JTB applied free of charge under warranty and mine is a MY 2015, go figure!.
Thanks, I think this is not my problem. I had water pump replaced in '19 but now I have a new ticking sound. My current water pump has 9k miles on it. Any thing else that is a ticking sound?
First and foremost the injectors, because GDI and very high fuel pressure.
Next the fuel pumps.
Then the lifters.
The first two are normal and nothing to worry about but ticking lifters can signal a problem although that is fairly rare, one member on the UK forum with an F-Type R had them all replaced under warranty.

Ok, I found that TSB as well. How did you get the JTB applied free under warranty? The MY2017 I have is at dealer right now. I didn't notice that noise. I'm not sure they would apply the TSB if there's no noise... and maybe there's no need since I'm 2 model years past. Your thoughts?
Oh, think this now rates as a "never mind".... re-reading says: " NOTE: Removal of the supercharger drive belt and running of the engine to verify the noise
is emanating from the supercharger assembly must be done prior to the fitting of a newsupercharger assembly."
I get some ticking at startup, but I think it's just the lifters as it goes away within a minute or two.

If your coupler is worn the noise is unmistakeable - a very loud irregular rattle on cold start up which decreases as the engine warms up but is still there at idle on a warm engine. This rattle is over and above the "normal" ticks and rattles that these engines have such as injector tick, and another pointer is that this rattle really is quite irregular unlike the regular injector tick. Then there is the big giveaway, the loud "clonk" from the top of the supercharger on shut down.
I had mine done under the new car warranty per the JTB but as it is a North American (NAS) JTB I believe there must be an equivalent Rest of World (ROW) JTB that I was covered by. If there is I have never seen or heard of it. It was done by a JLR dealership (the only one within 700 km of me) and they didn't argue the toss at all.
But it wasn't all plain sailing, when I first took the car in and asked for the JTB to be applied under warranty as I was 99% sure the rattle was a worn coupler they ignored me and said they had diagnosed it as a worn/rattling SC belt tensioner, and could I bring the car back in a few days time to have a new tensioner fitted. I had doubts but I went along with this and duly bought the car back in. Then a few days later when I picked it up there was absolutely no difference to the rattle so I rang them up and told them and then they finally agreed to apply the JTB, so I bought the car in yet again. I *think* they applied the JTB because the shutdown "clonk" disappeared and has never returned but the rattle never really went away and there are no witness marks that I can see on or around any of the SC coolant jacket mounting bolts.
You can always try to get the JTB applied by saying you can hear the rattle and clonk although it is unlikely they will agree to do it as a free of charge warranty job but you never know you might get lucky!
