Default SVR fender on R

Has anyone put the SVR fender (or the like) with the vent on an R?

Someone here did, and they fit. I couldnt find the post, I think it was in some random, unrelated thread. But there are pictures of it.

Thanks! I searched but couldn't get the right combination of words I guess.

I really like the vertical vent look.

It was I who did it. In order to complete the conversion, you will need the SVR side skirts which are different from the R and the fenders which are two pieces each side. The only piece I cannot find is the hood vents for the SVR.

Looks good. I wonder if it will work on a 2015 which has different side skirts as well. Or was yours an older model and now if just looks like a 2016+?

It should work fine. They haven't changed much in between models and years. The svr side skirts will definitely fit. I can go check on topix for you to see if any of the fender bolt points have changed but I highly doubt it.

They have not; mine was built with one of each.

No worries there. If I had an svr I'd be looking to swap out the fish gill hood vents. I think they're the worst design element of the model.

Does this mod turn the <normally blank> front vents into functioning front brake cooling devices?

If so, did you notice any difference with less brake temp overheating? Guess it depends on what brake package you have fitted to your R...

I haven't swapped out the front bumper to the SVR version as you can see in the photo. I've been on the fence about this change. I quite like the non-SVR bumper, the lines match the car better, but the SVR bumper does have an more aggressive edge. So no, right now they are still blanks in my grill.

Does anyone know the best place to buy the SVR front bumper? I've been considering getting it but still undecided. Thank you.

I suspect getting a SVR VIN # is easy enough. Is this place, the best with pricing ?
Thanks!

It's the best I've seen accessible to mere humans like myself. Shipping for the bumper though might remove all the discount offered by them. I ended up not purchasing the SVR rockers through them because the shipping cost essentially negated the savings. make it it not worth it to purchase from them. I ended up just going through my local dealer parts department, for the rockers, and the dealer was nice enough to sell me parts at wholesale cost. Shipping is free via the dealer.

Might be of interest but I've just fitted an SVR front bumper onto an S.
Not the hardest mod, but a few catches. Needs SVR undertray, loom modded to extend for outer parking sensors and some fettling of the aux rad cowl.

Happy to post more info if folks want it, but all bits needed can be picked up from a main dealers, although I sourced the bumper online.

Added to the colour coded '400' series sill extensions I think it makes a worthwhile set of external cosmetic mods.

Default Very nice, looks great !

I have a question for you, are the left and right side area of the SVR bumper functional allowing free air flow through the mesh screen or is it only cosmetic for the two corner inlets of bumper.
thank you

They are functional. The grille has a blanking plate behind it that covers around 3/4 of the area leaving a vertical vented strip at the outside edge.
However as i still have the standard wheel arch liner there is nowhere for it to vent to the brakes.
I'm sure the SVR would have trumpets to direct airflow across the void and out the liner towards the brakes.

Hmmm .... interesting ....I always drive conservatively the first 500 miles and then gradually get on it....just what I do.
