Default Is the SVR reliable as a track car

A friend is thinking about buying an SVR--He is an active track day guy with his club. Anyone know how they hold up to constant track days? He currently has a Porsche that holds up well. After driving my F/R at Sebring he is liking the fun factor.

Hard to believe after tracking a Porsche that moving to a 4000+ lb pig wouldn't be disappointing.
Regarding reliability: early e-diffs failed on a regular basis. That problem may have since been resolved

I wouldn't buy F-type as a primary track car, I'd go with C7 or Mustang. However, if mixed use (track + commute) is in mind, then F-type is superb. It handles well on track without being uncomfortable in daily use.

Isn't the C7 famous for overheating on the track?

The C7 Z06, which is supercharged, does have that history but I don’t recall hearing about overheating on normally aspirated C7s.

Early C-7s transmissions overheated on the track within a few minutes of driving. I have a friend who had constant problems with his and was negotiating a buy back with Chevrolet. I am assuming GM has since worked on the issue.

A C7 without an S.C., is like a chocolate sundae without the cherry on top.

Yep, that why you don't buy early Z06 or if you do, you spend on cooling mods. 17 and later supposedly a-OK.

Jaguar run a fleet of SVR's at the Nurburgring which regularly do a full days running, I had a go last year and was in the car from 9am to 5pm on the ring, stopping only for fuel and lunch and we pushed them hard, if you want to do a lot of track driving, they did tell me the only mod they had done was to the E-diff, they had somehow upgraded the cooling to it, I did get the overheat light come on but the mechanics told me to ignore it as the light is set for standard cars but other than that it was flawless all day

You did not specify what type of racing bt in general even a stock SVR can be tracked reliably. A properly modified F-Type is very competitive on track, heat is the worst enemy, a diet and some suspension work makes it outstanding. I prep a number of track used F-Type and personally race a V6S AWD with a Vengeance 640 package and V8R AWD with an Incubus 700 package. The SVR in my case would just add a nicer interior so I would not opt for it just for track use.
