Default Takes over 2 months to arrive?

A dealer that I'm starting to work with for a 2016 R Coupe told me that even if the car has a build date, it will take over 2 months to get it to the dealer after the start of build. Does this seem right to you? I didn't realize that it took so long. I have a build date of 3/1/2015 and he says it should be here some time in June. Cecil...........

Doesn't it take at least three weeks to ship across the Atlantic? Add pre-build queue time, build time, document prep and all that, and I can see easily 4-8 weeks.

I'm in Atlanta and got my car within 2 months of placing order and within 5 weeks of production.

Mine was built Oct 4th. Arrived at dealer Dec 5th (Colorado). So yeah, 2 months can be common.

Seems about right. When I enquired about an AWD in December, they said they could give me a March build slot for delivery late May or June

I ordered mine on 12/15/14

As soon as the order is entered into the system, the dealer should be able to give you a build date and specific arrival date. The arrival date is often subject to change (both earlier and later). West coasters seem to be getting their cars about 8 weeks after build. I've seen 3-5 week delivery times for east coasters.

My 2016 R coupe data is as follows:

Ordered: Nov 19th
Build date: Feb 5th (but apparently it was being built on 1/30.)
Delivery date: March 20th

Looks like 2 months is not all that uncommon. I live on the west coast, so add a few weeks there. Thanks guys, Cecil..........

Once you have the VIN # you can track your car from South Hampton all the way to your dealer. Just go to W & W shipping lines web site and use the trace feature.

The ship sails to NA and makes a lot of stops along the way on the East coast then goes through the Panama Canal and up the west coast making a lot more stops.

Just know that not every car comes via W&W. I was never able to track mine.
