Exclamation Tapping sound under the engine V6S 2014

Hello Everyone,

Finally got my F-Type last month, it's a V6S 2014 convertible

I've seen the car develop (or I'm becoming more paranoid about it) a tapping noise that seems to come from under the hood right behind the front wheels. It does not disappear after warming up and it increases with the revs.
It's especially loud when there are walls around as it echoes out, it does not sound like an F-Type should sound at all and it's starting to get annoying when driving with the top open. Plus I'm wary of pushing the engine.

It's a different noise from the one that comes from the top of the engine, which seems to be the injectors from what I've gathered from the threads about the issue I've found so far.

Wondering if anyone had the same problem or might guess what is it?

I had an issue with a cracked lifter cap that created an RPM dependent ticking sound. This required the replacement of all 8 exhaust valves, lifter caps, and the exhaust camshaft on that bank, along with a host of other seals/bolts and minor associated parts. This was most likely a result of the engine overheating when the radiator fan failed internally.

Hopefully this is not your problem.

There’s also the supercharger isolator issue, though I have no idea what that sounds like.

Uploaded to youtube:

There's a few post here and there that mention this might be the actual regular sound of the engine. But I can not wrap my head around that an F-Type sounds like a beat up Diesel engine...

@Stohlen I do hope that's not the issue!

@DJS thanks for the link. Do you know if this is common to all engines? The TSB only specifies the V8 engine, mine is a V6S.

Thank you all

@DJS Just noticed you also have a V6S. How's the noise under the hood right under the wheel? Just want to make sure I'm not being paranoid and this is an actual problem

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

It does not sound at all like the torsion isolator / coupler noise to me.
I had the coupler noise and got the TSB fix done under warranty (the entire snout of the supercharger is replaced), but I have never been sure it was actually done as the noise never really changed.
The coupler noise is very erratic and sounds like a tin of marbles being rattled with no rhythm, it comes and goes all over the place, while the noise in the video is very regular and rhythmic.
Also, the coupler noise is obviously from the front/top of the supercharger and not all that noticeable from outside the car with the hood shut.
I think Lance might be right and it could be an exhaust leak.
Get underneath and have a good look at the exhaust pipe couplings just aft of the cat converters, the RHS one may be a little loose or have a small hole in it.

Going to stop by the dealer next Wednesday so they can take a look at it. Hope it's nothing major.

I'll also get a quote for the speaker rattle fix, the last owner didn't fix it and warranty is gone now.

I'll update this thread when I know more, thanks everyone!

+1 on exhaust leak at manifold or converter. Check tightness of flange bolts and upstream oxygen sensors.

Sounds like normal engine chatter to me, but louder. Agree on checking for an exhaust leak first. Different vehicle, but a while back my Discovery started sounding like it had a diesel engine. Dealer and independent shops kept saying it’s normal or it’s piston slap. It drove me nuts. Didn’t seem like an exhaust leak at first, but tightening the flange bolts between the exhaust manifolds and cat helps a little for a few days. I ended up replacing the studs and the gasket in between and that fixed it. The noise doesn’t go away completely since it is normal engine noise, but it is much quieter.
