Default Tire Leak

Anybody ever had an unexplainable issue with an irreparable F Type tire leak? I have the Pirelli P Zeros as well as the factory wheels. My experienced autohouse cannot seem to figure out how to keep pressure in the tire.

It's coming out somewhere. How fast is it losing pressure? I can't believe that an experienced shop can't figure it out. Remove the wheel and get a spray bottle of soapy water. Check the beads on both sides, the valve (both where it goes in the rim and the valve core, tread, and sidewalls. The only thing left is the rim itself. That's really rare, but not unheard of.

I've had where the valve has an issue because it has the pressure sensor built in. There's a refurb kit for those pressure sensor valves which is only a few bucks which fixes it and can be easily done by most tire shops.

Any chance there is a micro crack in the wheel itself? I had that once and it took a while to find it. Quite a slow leak. About 1-2 weeks to loose 5psi.

Assuming the tire is 100% puncture free, the most common cause of a slow leak would be a loose or bad valve. Second most common would be leaky bead (usually from debris between tire and rim). I've seen a small pebble get in-between and cause a slow leak. Hairline crack in rim is third, but could also be the cause.

If it turns out to be a tyre, just see it as a good opportunity to ditch the P-Zero's!

I've had issues with the tire valve>wheel area, loose valve stems, or slow leaks because of the barcode stickers that the manufacturers place in the bead surface of the tire.

But usually its because the tire store monkeys scratched the bead area during removal reinstall.

If your 'autohaus' can't resolve it, go to a Firestone...
