Default Tuner available to save drive mode?

Hi All,

Sorry.. Yes I'm a newb, but I do try to have forum etiquette. I did Google searches using different verbiage to find the answer, but came up empty, so please don't flame me if a solution has been discussed.
I would prefer to keep the car in dynamic mode at all times. With my Porsche, there was a module called the "memory module" that I could plug in the center console in order to save my last drive mode. There is a similar thing for Vettes and Dodge, BMW, etc. I'm not finding one for the F-type.

Does nothing similar exist for Jaguar?

Also, do the seats not have a quick release to fold down? The dealer could find nothing and I couldn't find anything on Google either. Dumb question, I know, but I saw there was a hook behind the seats and obviously the subs are back there, so a quick folding button would seem kinda useful. Did we miss it?

TIA!

The seats do not fold; the only way to access that coat hook is to use the electric adjustment.

I am not aware of any modification that locks the Dynamic mode - you wouldn't be popular with your neighbours if there were! It may be a slight nuisance but it's very simple to activate the Dynamic mode as part of the starting ritual. Far more annoying is to have to cancel the start/stop arrangement each time you get in the car (but the permanent answer to that is very simple and easy: just disconnect it!).

Lol... Thanks for the reply. You have to remember not everyone has a lot of neighbors 😉
We also have a widebody Challenger Hellcat (with mid-muffler delete) that wakes the dead upon cold start, so I am familiar with how they can sound. Definitely not my first V8.
What I am trying to avoid is the airline pilot take off procedure. I just want to get in and drive and have it set where I want and it stay there. But I guess that's not the world we live in these days.
I'm not sure how it's more annoying to cancel the start/stop button? It is the same procedure (both annoying) as selecting the Dynamic mode pretty much. Pushing a button. I've already found how to disconnect that part, though. Least I can cross that off my list (hopefully). Unless they make it more difficult for 2022. I sure hope not!

what you want is available if you have a convertible by installing a mods4cars smarttop module. it remembers if you had dynamic on/off and remembers if you had stop-start on/off at last drive and will switch them upon car restart

This is incorrect. The SmartTOP module will remember (and set for you) your preference for ECO start/stop mode (on/off) and exhaust valves (open/closed). It does NOT remember (nor set for you) Dynamic Mode. That still has to be done manually.

while i know the smarttop doesn't do the same functions in every year, if i put my car in dynamic mode, on my next drive it does in fact remember this and turns on dynamic mode a moment after vehicle is started. i have never tried putting it in rain/snow mode to see if it remembers that too.

I don't know what year your F-Type is, but I'm guessing it is pre-2018 and does not have the H136 or H239 software campaigns applied to it. Those F-types will retain the Dynamic Mode setting for up to six hours after the ignition is shut off, so subsequent restarts within that timeframe will start in the last mode used. Newer vehicles and those two campaigns have altered the software to where it no longer retains the Dynamic Mode setting when the vehicle is shut off. You have to reset it each time you start the vehicle.

On a pedantic point (moi? ) the vehicle does remember the dynamic mode setting because on the next restart the interior lights briefly stay red before the car reverts to whatever your non-dynamic default (blue in my case) lighting is. It's on the next start that it reverts, not on shutdown.

Good technical point--the end result is the same but you are correct. When you first restart it after last using Dynamic Mode, you will see the "Dynamic Mode Off" in the display when the gauges return to regular color right after ignition start. My guess is that it was easier for the engineers to program the software to send the command to return the car to normal driving mode on every startup when there is an ignition cycle rather than try to make the car switch modes when the car is not on (and now requires battery power). If you were previously in normal mode nothing happens when it sends that command, but if you were previously in either the Dynamic or Snow mode it will revert to normal. The end result is the driver just sees the car doing what it does as if you pressed the switch on the console right after you press the start button.

This. My 2016 retained Dynamic for that amount of time. My 2019 does not. I do not get tuning well enough, but here's my dream setup:

At Startup:
  1. Auto Start/Stop default "OFF" (it's manual anyway, so it's sorta moot, and doesn't work like on an AT anyway)
  2. Dynamic and Active Exhaust default "ON"
  3. Climate Controls default "Synched" vs passenger control enabled.
  4. Mute left and right turn signals when a call is engaged.

I know I had others hopes and dreams, but I don't know enough if you can take control of the vehicle you purchased and own it and fix it to our preferred settings, or it's just that you don't really own as much as you used to, and regulatory stuff trumps our ability to manage our purchase??

I am thinking that Chris at Velocity Auto Performance (VAP) should be able to do something like that as part of the tuning file? Maybe not...But on my Raptor, with tuning (COBB AP and Goosetuned) I am able to put it in Valet mode so it cannot be driven hard, disable start/stop, adjust throttle response mapping, and a host of other things. I can also use ForScan to turn on and off all sorts of settings...Sooo I know VAP can add or subtract pops and crackles in the tune, and it would be great if they could also set the Star/Stop Option, maybe disable wing, save last settings etc...

Likely a top seller!

Hope you are listening Chris/Stuart....?? Maybe JLR has encrypted the system so not able to access??

Do the seats of your car have three memory settings ? What I have done in mine is used button # 3 for an adjustment that has the set moved forward a few inches and the seatback tilted way forward. That way I can easily access the space behind the seats and when done I just press the #1 button to return the seat to my regular preference.
