Default Two F-Types, No Speeding Tickets

Drove my F-Type to the dealership for its 2-year service yesterday. Distance was 87.7 miles with an average speed of 45.0 and efficiency of 26.7 mpg. Of course there were a few spirited sprints along the way. Anyway, the loaner I was assigned is a 2023 Cadillac C4, a particularly nondedscript, poorly riding and handling vehicle overall; but it was still capable of reaching speeds of well over 100 mph and to earn me a ticket for going 80 in a 60 zone.
Maybe I'll buy one of those sophicated radar/lidar detectors after all.

My last speeding ticket was in 1995 though I'm wondering if I'll break my record with my new F-Type, lol.

Because the Jag is such a nice place to be there's no real need to drive fast to reach a destination. In "ordinary" cars, I fully understand people's urge to get out of it as soon as possible (Audi/BMW drivers, I'm looking at you).

FWIW, I been in the same location for "many" years. My previous car before the F-Type was a black E46 M3 that I owned for 9 years. I counted one year during that ownership that I got pulled over 12 times that year. I didn't count over my entire ownership, but it was pulled over a LOT in that car. Never for speeding, it was always some random checks of things that didn't matter.

Fast forward to my purchase of my white F-Type in 2015, never been pulled over in it (knocking on wood). There are just certain cars that attract law enforcement attention.

That would have been my old red Camaro Seriously though, that Camaro got me enough tickets from accidents and speeding to equal in points to a DUI. Its a miracle I survived my early 20s without killing myself and/or someone else and cringe when I look back at how dangerous I was back then.

Now you know why you NEVER buy a loaner car!

Now you know why insurance rates are so high for younger drivers!

My rate increased so high that I had to get on my dad's insurance policy too, ugh

I'll educate my children to be safe drivers when they get to driving age in several years. It's practically worse now with texting and such.

Not that I believe that the government should do much of anything in terms of regulation, but here's a great example of how parents have completely dropped the ball by allowing their teenage sons to drive cars with enough power to wipe out everybody in a six block radius.

Unless you make family the priority of Western society once again, things are going to continue to dis-integrate.

The loaner I was given is a 203 Cadillac CT4 and comes with a teenage driver setting. I don't know what it does, but it's the first I've heard of such a thing except on electronic products.

Oh, our red SS Camaro was called Ticket Master.

Got clocked going 90 in a 55 (wide open highway on my way home during lunch). Cop walks up and says, “if you’re honest with me, this will go a lot easier…do you know why I pulled you over?”. I smile and say, “no front license plate?”. He walks to the front of the car, looks down, smiles and shakes his head. He walks back still smiling and says, “I didn’t notice that, but you were going 90”. “Damn, I was moving but was I really going that fast?”, I reply. He knocks it down to 10 over, non-reckless and tells me to have a good day. Moral of the story: these guys put their lives on the line every day and deal with a lot of asses, so just be nice and try to make them laugh.

Here in Commiefornia the police are no longer allowed to ask the old "do you know why I pulled you over" question. I guess it has something to do with not be asked to admit guilt.

My last ticket was just before I bought my F Type. I was new to the area was was driving across the State Highway in the desert very early in the morning. The speed limit is 55 and that is very hard to maintain when visibility is excellent and you have some long straight stretches. What I didn't know was that the CHP. had a lot of places where they could hide and turn on their radar and you wouldn't see them until it was too late. I got nailed for doing 73 in a 55 zone. Not really excessive but when you are doing more than 10 over the limit the CHP generally just writes a ticket. There was no discussion, the officer just took my license, registration and insurance card, went back to his vehicle and came back and asked me to sign the ticket.

Now I set the cruise control at 59 when driving that area. I don't need another $420 ticket plus the cost of the traffic school.

I think that the last time I got a speeding ticket was in 1988 on US-13 in Delaware. It was during the wee hours while driving my two children from Virginia Beach, VA to NH. I had a radar detector in my Jeep Cherokee but it was too late. The Trooper was nice anuff. I was hoping that I'd get a break until my kids started chiming in about how fast I was going. Darn!

Oh, I've had a number of close calls with the law. One particular time was soon after I was transferred from Japan to Washington, DC. I think I might have been doing 100 mph as I entered I-495 from I-270. That was back in the day when we weren't supposed to go more than 55 mph. In those days the Maryland State Troopers used powder yellow patrol cars. I saw him approaching in the side view mirror of my 1974 buccaneer red Trans Am 455 and immediately let off the gas and remained in the slow lane. To my amazement he pulled over a VW beetle that was putting along in the left lane. Phewwww! I decided to change my skivvies once I got to the office.

When I was a teenager, I was specifically excluded as a driver on the insurance for my parents' cars. I was relegated to a 1967 Mercury Comet station wagon - 200 cu, 3 on the tree, no options (not even a radio), but it was great on dates. I had no reason to complain until the time I came home from college for the weekend and they had gone out of town and taken MY car to park at the airport. It was the only time I drove a Rolls -- very carefully.

I just got back from a 1,500 mile road trip around the Greek mainland, mostly avoiding highways.
Absolutely beautiful country. Trip took us over high mountain passes and countless steep roads with sharp hairpins.
I really wished I had the Jag with me instead of the small rental.
But, to get to the point.... road speed signs are totally ignored in that country.
If I was not driving at least 50-100% over the posted speed I was slowing down traffic and Greek drivers are not very patient!!
No tickets in US but definitely tested my luck more than few times!!

I like Europe’s approach: drive what is a safe and reasonable speed. As opposed to the US government deciding that for us (based on dated vehicle data…brakes and safety features have come along since speed limits were posted) and then taxing us with speeding tickets in the name of safety.

Lord knows I should probably spend a fair amount of time in one of the rings of Hell for speeding over the years...my favorite location being a 2+ mile[s?] very steep UPgrade back on the East Coast. I would get my 993C2S up to about 150mph as there were three newly paved I 80 lanes and no traffic, feeling as if gravity would surely bail my *** out if anything went amiss.

My last speeding ticket was for going 43mph in 35mph zone about a block from my parents' house when I was still in school back in the early 70's. Accessing my last functional memory neuron, I believe the ticket was $18. or thereabouts.

That works only if people are in their right mind.

Living in the LA area, God only knows what the body count would be every day with no speed limits. People here are crazy here and drive like it.
