Default 1/2 mile runs with my F-Type R

They recently closed down a 2 mile airport runway on Long Island, New York and hosted 1/2 mile high speed runs.
You come up to 40 MPH and when you hit the start line, you accelerate.
I did 4 runs in total and my highest trap speed at the end of the 1/2 mile was 151.42 MPH!
The car is stock and RWD. It was the only F-Type.
Tons of fun!!

Those events are fun! Mine is an AWD R and was racing from a dig rather than rolling 40 MPH....Mine is modified, and speeds are similar to yours from a roll.
Here is my thread on it. HERE Has a couple of videos too (horrible quality from friends iPhone )

Thanks for posting

sounds like a blast. Good to see folks pushing these cars beyond garage ornament status.

did you have any expectations going in n trap speed?

Default Stress

BTW - for anyone who looks at this post and concludes that a 1/2 mile run is hard on this vehicle, that’s just Not the case. There is limited stress put on the drivetrain from a 40
mph rolling start; and running a motor up to redline (with load on the engine), is what internal combustion engines are designed to do. Revving a motor while not under load, can be harmful.
Taking an F-TYPE above 150 mph has already been tested and approved by the manufacturer. JLR publishes that the vehicle will do that and they warrant that the vehicle will do that, without a failure happening.

It could also be bad driving;-)
i am sure if there was more road, the speed would have be higher. It was just getting going at 150 mph

It takes awhile to get up to top speed. Getting any car above 150 is a feat. 152 in 1/2 mile with a rolling start is OUTSTANDING!

You are not going to get near top speed in 1/2 mile, from a start or a roll. As your speed goes up, so does the air pressure pushing the car to stop accelerating...Takes a ton of HP to push through the air as speed increases.

Based on HP and other specs, the posted trap speed is right at what you would expect.

I took part in a "Jaguar Beyond Limits" event back in 2014 at the Millbrook proving ground in the UK and one of the drives was a flat out run up the straight mile (slightly uphill). The V8 I was in managed to reach an indicated 168mph by the 3/4 mile marker at which point heavy braking was needed to negotiate the tight bend at the end of the run. The accompanying pro driver's advice at the start was "just floor it". Not been that fast since.
