F-Type R - No Fly Zone 1/2 Mile Races Midwest
Took my F-Type R to the Rantoul, IL - Omega Motorsports No Fly Zone yesterday for some 1/2 mile racing on the runways. Just thought I would share, as many of you have similar cars/mods as I do.
While it was not the event killer like my 997 TT, it did very well, and was flawless. I actually later, tested my Water Methanol spray, and found that my Windshield washer system is malfunctioning and not filling the front tank, so as great as the car ran, it was not getting the benefit of cooler intake air, or octane boost! I ran Top Tier Shell 93 Octane gas, with Lucas Fuel System treatment.
The event is/was side-by-side drag racing for 1/2 mile on the runway. I was able to run 15 times with no issues. Temps were nice and cool @ about 75 degrees and very little wind. This was a strict 1/2 mile with trap speed equipment (not the extra 300 Ft of rolling allowed in some). From a dig, the car was launching awesome. I had slower trap speeds than many I beat, because it came off the line so quickly. I found my best results were with NO sport mode shifting on, me not using the paddles, in Dynamic Mode, slight power braking just before launch, and my Sprint Booster pedal mapper set to race mode. Also turned traction control to FULL off (by pressing and holding for a long time until the light displays).
A friend that was watching took a few crappy videos on his iPhone, and I posted one on YouTube if interested in seeing how it goes down the track. (My mods are in my signature). The video is against a slightly modified Mercedes AMG GTS...We raced twice with same result. His car was fast, but my launch pulled away each time
No breakage, or limp mode or other issues all day! Raced from about 10 AM until about 3 PM...Was very pleased with how it held up. Car consistently ran 150-152 MPH all day long, with a few outliers...Lowest was 147 MPH. Of the 15 races, I lost twice...Once to a Kawasaki Motorcycle( but jumped him off the line, and had him for ~ first 1/4 mile), and once to a 780 HP Audi with launch control.
Prior to race, I changed oil and filter, and flushed the brake system with Pentosin DOT4 LV fluid. Also recently changed plugs back to fresh Iridium HR 7 gapped to .030.
After race (today), I checked oil level and was still at 100% line exactly. Brakes were great, and Oil Catch can had a very small amount of blow by oil. I did discover when checking that my Meth/H20 was empty and not working (so addressing that now).
Just sharing...

Photo while parked...note the gobs of brake dust! ...And the beautiful McLaren next to me
EDIT: Here is another video VS a Mustang GT Saleen (Modified). Again...Hole shot got him...in a mile, he may have overtaken me?

The last one I went to had a 2200 HP Lambo that went 221 MPH in 1/2 mile ... I could not beat that one, even with the 911 Turbo modified I did, however run my Turbo ~ 40 times, while the Lambo broke after 3 runs...So there is that.
Most of these events only have trap speed equipment (not times, just top speed). Like a dumb@ss, I forgot my draggy at home, or could have had tons more info....as well as bringing my VAP Datalogger....duh!
I was beating many cars off the line that had 3 or even sub 3 second 0-60 times (using their dragy), just as a reference...

I have completed many 1/2 mile runs with WANNAGOFAST in Florida at Jumbolaire, John Travolta's airstrip where he can land his 747s. I have a bone stock Ftype V8S. Like you I have done 14 passes at 90F Florida humidity. Best 1/2 miles are144 mph passes. Never had a hint of overheating or other problems. And it's a Jag. I think that the engine and powertrain is pretty bullet proof. Anyway your mods obviously work well!

Man that is so cool you can run another car for 1/2 mile! I have ran the Texas Mile twice now and it's strictly one car on the run way at a time!
I thought a modified F Type would trap better than 150-152mph?
My modified XJR did 149+ at the 1/2 mile.
174+ in the mile. I also had terrible conditions with temperatures in the 90's and very high humidity.
Texas Mile
Nothing but wide open sky!

Haha...Yes, these are fun events. A few ****** as always, but most of the drivers and spectators are just car lovers and come to have fun and enjoy the cars. At all of these events, you can beat some cars (there are all kinds), and you will get beaten by some.
The last one I went to had a 2200 HP Lambo that went 221 MPH in 1/2 mile ... I could not beat that one, even with the 911 Turbo modified I did, however run my Turbo ~ 40 times, while the Lambo broke after 3 runs...So there is that.
