Upgrading 200mm Door Speaker Clarification
Hi all, I'm about to upgrade my current 2014 f-type 775 Meridian sound system speakers with the upgraded Meridian Signature versions (from Land Rover). I've read all the informative posts, but seem to get hung up on one detail:
The 200mm door speakers I currently have seem to be 2ohm, but the upgraded LR047119 200mm Meridian Signature speakers seem to be 4ohm.
It seems others have done this upgrade successfully, and the sound quality has been significantly improved.
But, I just want to make sure going from 2ohm to 4ohm won't be an issue, or assuming my info is inaccurate, confirm what the correct ohms are.
Many thanks

I found the post that got me worried about using the 4ohm Meridian Signature mid bass speakers:

Hi all, thanks for the feedback, despite the stock mid-bass speakers being 2ohms, I went ahead and ordered the 4ohm LR047119. I'll give an update after I install them.
Also, I found these speaker adapters which were made from a mold of the LR047119, which I may buy just to see what else would work in the doors...I just can't figure out what size speaker would fit with them, 6.5"? 8"? EDIT: looks like the size is in the title, 6.5", sigh

Some have reported poor sound due to a mismatch between the speakers installed and the version of the Meridian software installed by the factory in their cars. This makes me ask whether we know that the installed software will work well with changed speakers.

@Michael211 thank you for the comments - I feel like I remember reading something like what you're referring to, but I can't seem to find it. It would be great if the people that have specifically installed the upgraded 200mm midbass speakers (LR047119) could chime in. It seems universal that the tweeters and 100mm speakers are a great upgrade, just the 200mm is in contention.
I've ordered the speakers, and just received an update this morning that they'll be here in a few weeks.

it is the other way round, tweeter was said to be a bit harsh in most reports
Yes I did NOT change anything except swapping to the reference speakers with Kevlar cones. I did not touch any of the small speakers. I replaced all 4 door speakers and the 2 in the rear package shelf. They were all 200mm I believe?

My "old" ears thought there was a nice improvement in the bass and the sound is less strident when turning up the volume.
If must slam pretty hard because I can feel my pant leg fabric getting moved slightly by the bass coming out of the drivers door when at high volumes.
One thing I have noticed over the years playing with car stereo's is the very top end ones don't appear to play all that loud. But they do and I think it's about how fatiguing the system is caused by different types of distortion. I really notice this more in home computer speaker setups. Plenty of them play very loud but I can only listen a few minutes before I turn them down.
I do have a 2014 XJ so not the exact same car but all the hardware is very close. I can't answer about the digital software versions either as I don't know what version I am currently running?
That could certainly make a huge difference.
