USB method for nav map update Jan. 2025
Car is still at the dealer and I have asked my tech to see if connecting a cellphone to the car (he will have to pair his) and then going to that Maps and Services website page while connected to my car makes a difference. I gave him my username and login. That's today's effort.
I can try pressuring HERE, but I don't know what more I could do than my JLR tech has. Possibly more info once 'connectivity' is or isn't established.
That's why I was hoping to connect with another 2017 owner who has the ICT plus, the unit WITH the CD player in the console.

I have the same setup on my 2017 SVR. I don't use the maps, but I tried the registration on HERE to get into the maps software then I went to the shop for maps and put in my vin. And I get the same error "Please enter a valid VIN"
So - maybe they just aren't making updates for it anymore?

Since this is still an ongoing issue, I decided to check the website myself. It let me create an account but when I go to add a vehicle I get the now-famous response "Please enter a valid VIN."
And yes, this is the same VIN I've used to purchase updates in the past, although I don't seem to have created an account. I think I got emails offering discounted updates and responded directly to them. I'll check and see if I still have email records for that.
EDIT: More information:
It is https://jaguarshop.here.com/ that won't accept the VIN. The confirmation link I got from HERE goes to https://account.here.com/ and it says there is no account with my email address.

I did that very same thing. I thought perhaps the account that I originally created was compromised somehow, so I created a new one using an alternate email that I use. I got the identical responses.
I did go out to the car and was reminded why I don't use InControl. It seems to only work if the phone is connected to the correct USB port in the center console. I may poke through more options tomorrow and see if I can get more data, but I'm now 100% convinced that the problem for me is all there (HERE).
Come Monday, going to call HERE again and press the issue that the website won't accept the VIN. Not going to say anything about trying to download the Nav update(s), just that I can't load the VIN. There is an IT disconnect in there somewhere, perhaps when JLR handed over the NAV stuff to HERE???
Just to add. I do use the InControl remote features on my 2017 SVR. I have paid the $120 or so each year to renew it. And it works well. I get car location, journeys, status and any issues, service reminders etc.
And I can log into InControl on the web or app just fine
HERE is a separate account.
So I think you are right that this is very much a HERE issue, not one of car connectivity. As my car connects just fine!

Same here, have a REMOTE (the app) log in, shows me where the car is and now, a large black dot that indicates where I am; Security settings... windows open/closed; locks, journeys, all that. My renewal (the first one) was $70. Interesting yours is/was $120.
Went out to the Jaguar HERE site again. At the bottom this graphic appears, No Connected Vehicle In your Account (NOTE, these graphics and links JUST started to appear on this site. I have been on this regularly and today is the first day I've seen this)
Clicking on that graphic opens up some details. Note the second line " If you own a connected vehicle, please sign in to your account in your In Car system to add the vehicle"
Clicking that underlined link brings up the 3rd graphic, saying that it is InControl Touch Pro Navigation system.....
My optimism now pretty much crushed, it seems that there is no update unless I were to have Touch Pro, not the older Touch Plus.
I'm still going to call, I will see if I can get an answer for the Touch Plus vs Touch pro.
Just IN! found a 'sealed USB update' on Ebay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/126892971705
2018 Edition, info on back of package indicates for MY2016 F type
It's $50, but it's sealed, so opening it would invalidate Ebay's guaranteed return. 5 year old information and only 2 years newer than what's in the car.

I just went through your link for my 2018 XE with InControl Touch Pro, as I was unsuccessful when I tried a few years ago. I did get it to add my vehicle this time, but it suggested I had the regular InControl Touch (not Pro). I had to click a small button, which then let me select ICTP from a list of all possible touchscreen options. Then it worked. (After 8 attempts at the stupid CAPTCHA.)
I should also mention that I didn’t renew the ICTP subscription, as I didn’t think use it. But I lost more services than Jag said I would. The website for updating says the next thing is to connect my car. I’ll try WiFi to see if it works that way.

@Valerie Stabenow
That ebay update looks just like the one I bought in 2018. I got another in 2020. The package looks exactly the same except for the date on the label. I assumed that the USB stick was keyed to my VIN because it was required for purchase and on the invoice, and I recall something in the notes at purchase time. I checked the packaging of the USB stick itself and don't see it on the label. Perhaps it's not keyed, and I apologize if I gave inaccurate information.
Separately, I thought it might be time for another update and have now joined the Valerie Aggravation Parade. I still can't get it to accept my VIN and have contacted support. I don't expect an answer over the weekend.

You know, I wonder if this whole exchange has set off a bunch of 2017 (plus/minus) owners to go after HERE and find out why our VINs won't go through!! THAT may be why I now see those graphics on their site pages... and why the Smart Aleck on the HERE phone call was so insistent that I work through the car login ( which I don't have) maybe after the umpteenth call that day, he was losing it.
HERE should get their heads out of the sand and realize that there are many owners who still have their pre-2018 (when I presume the change went through) Fs. The hardware is there to conduct the updates (USB in the console) The software is somewhere. Aren't the car companies required to keep 'parts' for 10 years after production? Maybe this doesn't count as a 'part'?
Valerie Aggravation Parade... LOVE IT, seriously!!! ( and I thought VAP was just a great tune.. :-) Happy to have as many join us as would like!

I started with "climbing aboard the Aggravation Bus" but thought a parade was more festive and you seem to be leading, so there it is. The acronym was entirely unintentional but if the band is playing a tune you can dance to, it all fits.

Given all the discussion on here, I would still love to be able to replace my screen (with physical buttons on the sides) with a larger 10inch screen that can run CarPlay and android auto without losing car control features. I looked last year and came v close to installing one of the adaptors that adds it into the existing 8 inch screen. But think the larger screen update would be much better
My main concern is getting a read on what works. Eg the one I liked loses control of the steering wheel buttons to eg skip tracks - and I use those all the time. Maybe that is a better way around nav map updates..
Many thanks to all of you for your suggestions and advice. I believe I have come to the end of the trail for information on any sort of Navigation update for my 2017 F, built late 2016. Do recall that this F does NOT HAVE AN SD card, only the USB port in the console. It is InControl PLUS, not PRO.
My appreciation as well to my JLR tech who dove into this. He happened to have a used Jaguar at hand that has an identical ICTPlus unit in it. He found that if he went to HERE, but using a 2015 Jaguar F type entry, he could locate a USB Nav update. Here is his synopsis:
"Logging into one of the accounts for the route planning and attempting to add a vehicle I have found that those instructions are for a Incontrol Touch Pro vehicle kinda similar to the white XE that I was showing you on Friday so we can not login to that due to the software being different.
Next I have been messing around here and going through their updating path where you click on the Jaguar then asks what vehicle and year and that is where it gets interesting. I believe that they have the wrong information on their site because when you do 2016 or 2017 Jaguar F-type it brings you to that screen that says login to your vehicle from the vehicle which is impossible because the Infotainment system in your vehicle does not have that feature. The info on the HERE website is wrong and directs you in the wrong area and gives the wrong info for the vehicle selected. So I entered it as a 2015 Jaguar F-type and it brings up a usb able to purchase right from their website with no vehicle info needed which I believe to be the correct path due to your vehicle not having the ability to have those other account features. As well as the infotainment system in 2015 is the same as your vehicle so they should work the same. Now here is the kicker.... They have stopped updating the maps in 2020.... even if you buy it and update it the maps are already 5 years old which is disappointing to say the least but I will attach the link for it and I downloaded the instructions and they appear to be what would be required to update your vehicle. "
In conclusion, Jag is wrong. Here is wrong. I believe that they have too many overlapping years for tech and they don't know what is in what cars."

Sorry to hear that after all this, you get no satisfaction.
Yes, no satisfaction other than to know I saw this through to its conclusion. Not what I wanted, but as I often say "do you want to know the truth or do you want to argue about it?" Maybe there are not many owners out there that would be willing to buy a 2025 update, but at $119 a pop, that's a respectable income stream.
Perhaps some other company will take up our cause and provide something, unlikely if this is proprietary code.

"Your car is equipped with the "Infotainment system type NGI (new generation infotainment) Head Unit - High". New for 2018"
Thank you for taking your time to research this for me with your dealer. Alas, my car is a 2017 and was built in late 2016, so I doubt a 2018 Infotainment system was put in.
Here is how I know I have InControlTouchPlus. Pro seems to be the later version with capability to use Carplay and Android Auto.
https://www.jaguarusa.com/ownership/...tes/index.html
One has the choice of two different systems as pictured. The top one takes you to the SD card process... not what I have.
The bottom one takes you to USB process, which IS what I have in the console. Continuing from that page takes you to the log in page. I do have a log in, and then it askes for the VIN. It won't accept my VIN, so dead in the water.
I really don't care that the Infotainment system I have can't use Apple Carplay or Android Auto. All I'm trying to do is update the current Nav info.
Thank you for trying to help. I WILL get it sorted out!

Val, try going down the SD card option. Will probably be the same dead end but just see if it will accept your VIN. If it will the just buy a USB card reader and your good to go.
