I'll have an open 3.15 AT version soon too if it helps. In for a quaife for sure.

AT=automatic transmission

Quaife may not be interested in producing F-Type LSDs with multiple ratios. I’m wondering if a 3.31ratio will confuse the DSC in an AT car. It would certainly offer sportier acceleration.

I found this on the forum in an older post somewhere.

340 MT: T2R18657 3.31 ratio Open
380/400 AT: T2R4000 3.15 ratio LSD
380 MT: T2P1783 3.31 ratio LSD
5.0L: T2R22213 2.56 ratio ELSD

But I guess airthirtytwo already answered your question.

My real question is: what is the ratio for the 340 AT?

Hmm but didn't airthirtytwo write "I'll have an open 3.15 AT version soon too if it helps." above? I interpreted that as the 340 AT has a ratio of 3.15.

Probably. That would make most sense. I’m now hoping someone can weigh in on whether the DSC will get confused if the base AT gets a 3.31 implant.

Well user Richard Chrimes here on the forum did that swap a couple of years ago. Found the post here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...2/#post1889460

EDIT: Maybe I should add that it seems like he had no issues whatsoever.

Nah the 3.31 will be fine in an AT car, the OEM LSD has been swapped including final drive and ppl have had no problems.

Question would be if one Quaife would fit all of the V6 diffs (At open, MT open, AT LSD, MT LSD), and whether the final drives would be interchangeable. (although most people doing this would rather have the 3.31 anyway, I'd guess)

Just realized my answer made no sense, but again airthirtytwo to the rescue. Sorry for the confusion.

I have followed this thread as I am also interested in upgrading my 2017 Manual (Premium 340hp) car to the LSD.
I have struggled to record what my diff tag number is as it is near impossible to view the top of the rear diff with my camera probe.
I think the below information is correct, but I have collected it from many sources over the past few weeks.
Note: the "tag number" is what is posted on the Rear Diff, while the "Part Number" is listed in the Jaguar parts bin

Engine Tag number Trans Ratio Diff Type Jaguar part number
2.0L JX53-4A213-AB Auto 3.55 Open Diff C2P 26134
3.0L EX53-4A213-AA Man 3.31 Open Diff T2R 18657
3.0L EX53-4A213-BA Man 3.31 Lim Slip T2P 1783
3.0L EX53-4A213-DA Auto 3.15 Open Diff T2R 17980
3.0L EX53-4A213-?? Auto 3.15 Lim Slip T2R 4000
5.0L EX53-4A213-EB Auto 2.56 Elect-LSD T2R 22213 (replaces T2R15908)

Yep, I did the swap and can confirm it works great. 👍 The most difficult part was to get my hands on a differential. Not too many out there, and I didn’t order a new one from Jaguar as they had none in stock and no estimated delivery time. Was lucky to find one on eBay finally.

@jlsthlm I have made some progress on documenting the Tag Numbers for the various F-Type, F-Pace, and XF rear differentials
Note: the above models all seem to have the same rear axle layout, minus the shaft yoke, which may be different.
What was the tag number for your limited slip and what was the ratio?

Below is a picture of the table of information that I have accumulated.

I was looking for a Manual LSD rear axle which is the rarest of them all... no luck over the past 4 months.
So my plans are changing, I am focusing on the differential carrier to see if we can plug in an LSD carrier.
I have purchased a used F-Type rear axle from eBay. It was from an Automatic 340 ps car ( EX53-4A213-DA ) so the most common rear axle out there.
The internals show a SPICER / DANA carrier with custom part number for Jaguar (2006726).

F-Type Rear Diff disassembled

The carrier has 31 spline axles with 1.32" OD.
Funny.. a Ford 8.8" rear axle found in Mustangs up to 2014 used a 31 spline axle shaft with 1.32" OD.

Hmm.. time to by a Ford LSD from an 8.8 rear axle to see if it will fit.
This could be as simple as unbolting one's original ring gear from the Jag open diff, and bolting it to the Ford LSD carrier... presto.. no change in ratio, just adding the LSD feature.
I will keep you posted.

I made a post on this before:
V6 Base LSD swap done + carbon roof - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

TL;DR: Ratio 3.31, I believe the tag was ex53-4a213-ba, like in your list. The one I bought had part number T2P1783.

Note that the prop shaft and halfshafts differ between the AT and MT versions.

Best of luck, keep us posted!

Thanks @jlsthlm I will read your other thread.
I am hoping the prop shaft differences are not an issue when swapping out the rear diff (between Manual and Automatic versions)
I would assume the only difference in the prop shaft are in the length and possibly the output flange from the transmission to the shaft.
(Possibly also differences between the AWD vs. RWD cars?)

The half shafts being different is news to me... what could be different?
I will look at the Jaguar parts catalog to see if there are different half shaft part numbers.

I was wondering if the base Auto transmission used a 3.31.If not, the potential market for an aftermarket torsen box would be too small to attract a vendor to build one for the MTs alone.

Update:
Well.. it appears that @Cambo has already tried a bunch of Ford carriers in Jag rear ends... and none worked..
(Should have done more reading on the various Jag forums)
Link to Cambo 5-0l-xk-na-lsd-confirmed-190935
"But there is no Ford LSD that fits inside the 8" diff housing. We tried them all."

I just found that the Ford 8.8 : carriers used smaller bearings than found in my Jag F-Type rear end.
Ford carrier bearings: ID = 1.618" , OD = 2.533" (1559 bearing)
Jag carrier bearings: ID = 5 cm = 1.957" OD = 8 cm = 3.15" (metric bearing)

Not sure how much work it would be to machine the Ford carrier bearing surfaces to a metric size...
I am not out of the fight just yet.

@Unhingd
I found the early V6 Auto's had 3.31 ratios.. and later cars had 3.15.
While all manuals V6's had 3.15 ratios.

I have an e-mail out to Quaife in the UK to ask about a custom rear axle carrier for Jags (F-Type, F-Pace, XF),
Quaife does some nice LSD's for several special applications. https://www.quaife.co.uk/
But I also think the upgrade market for Jag's is small... So I am going to try to fit a common LSD (Ford 8.8") into our Jag cases.

It may only take some bearing trickery... We shall see.
If it is a full re-shim of the input pinion gear it may not be worth the risk... or we will need a rebuild shop as a "partner" to build up a few axles at a time for the enthusiast Jag market.
