Okay chaps, final (I hope!) update.

Got my car back yesterday, a shade over six weeks after the original problem. Immediately took her for a 300km run out (being careful to keep the revs low) and everything seems good.

Of course, I would have preferred not to have had a problem in the first place, but to be fair to the local dealer (Al Tayer Motors, for anyone around these parts) they've handled it as well as I could have expected.

Hope none of you run in to the same kind of trouble and that this was just a one off – I still don't know exactly what the issue was, and Jaguar haven't yet been forthcoming about the results of the tests they've been running (not that I would really expect them to).

It's nice to be back behind the wheel, and here's hoping for many years of trouble-free driving!
