For those into tuning, some of the tuners have started looking at the motor and they believe the base motor will handle 1000hp. I'm too old for modding so that doesn't interest me but you might try looking at it for what the new generation is, not what the previous generation was...
I just saw one at Katies Cars & Coffee in person today. The marketing shots truly are taken from the best angle. In person, the new Supra is a caricature of a boy racer machine with a turtle shell for a roof.By comparison, the previous gen Supra sitting next to it looked much more sleek and refined.

The last gen Supra was many things.. Attractive was not one of them...

Anyway, back on topic:

Slightly off topic but related to the original question - What is it about the F-Type "tech" that people think is so bad? I don't own one but it's on my short list. I see comments about the "tech" often though, especially when referring to pre-18MY when I guess there were some updates. Are we talking infotainment systems? I'm coming form a 2008 VW so I guess my bar is pretty low in terms of what is an upgrade but I honestly don't like all of the touch screen gadgets in newer cars. My wife's new Volvo runs everything through the touch screen so you have to tap through multiple screens just to change the damn AC settings. I'd rather turn a know or press a button. That's one thing I actually like about the F-Type - it hasn't gone completely away from some basic analog controls. Don't get me wrong, I want satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming from my phone, backup camera, and blind spot monitoring (none of which I currently have), but I don't really need much more. I get the impression people who complain about the outdated "tech" in the F-Type are looking for a Tesla command center. I want this car because it's the most beautiful option on my list, sounds fantastic, and isn't a dime a dozen out on the road. give me some basic modern features and I'll be happy. So am I correct in thinking that the "bad tech" complaint shouldn't concern me?

Even my 2014 had adequate "tech" for me. My new 2020 BMW has all the latest tech stuff and honestly, I don't know how to use 90% of it and probably never will.....I'm 52 and am happy to flick a switch instead of talk to my car anyhow! I guess I'm saying, it depends on what value you place on that stuff.....me? the looks and driving dynamics have always been far more important to me than being able to start my car with my phone or being able to ask it for restaurant reservations ;-)

Cheers,
Dave

Yeah, fairly trivial consideration if you ask me. The screen lags a bit (MY 2016), but other than that I find the setup easy enough to use. Mind you my needs are pretty simple.

Thanks - that's generally where I'm coming from too I guess. I'm just not familiar enough with what this car has to evaluate what other people see as being insufficient. I don't really care for voice controls or having to tap through a bunch of screens to change the radio station or adjust the HVAC. Remote start and lock/unlock from my phone would be nice but not necessary. Don't get me wrong, I'm moving from a 2008 to at least a 2016 model so I definitely expect some modern technology features. I guess I just don't understand what it is that people are wanting and complaining about.

This one was parked outside the "D" on Fremont Street last week when I was in Vegas and it looked good to me, but it was backed up to the building so I couldn't see what the rear really looked like.

That rear quarter pic really exposes an awkward design. The more I see this car, the uglier it gets.

That’s a C7 though, not the C8

GM played this well and have everyone buzzing about the mid engine 60K dollar sports car. I have owned three corvettes and a plethora or other sports sedans, and coupes. But the 60k is a marketing gimmick, add I few options to your base C8 and soon you will be 75-110k fully loaded 2020 vette. I want one, you bet I do. But I’ll wait for a nice used one that Bobby big ***** has to part with because he can’t effort the gas and insurance. Lol
