Default Vibration in instrument cluster around 1400rpm.

My 2018 [MY2019] 4-cylinder has a vibration noise that seems to come from somewhere in/near the instrument cluster.

Its starts around 1300 and stops at 1450rpm. Sadly thats a range used almost constantly in traffic here.
Only can be heared on tarmac, cobbles generate so much tire noise that ist lost in the background .

Anyone had this and - preferably- solved it ?

Default Check your hood adjustment

I know on the XK’s this would happen if there was any play in the corner of your hood once closed. There’s an adjustable rubber stopper you can raise/lower. With the hood closed push down on the corners & if you have up & down play at all raise the rubber until there’s no more movement.

This is a free & quick test. If it’s not that then your dash will most likely need to be opened up & need repair.

US hood == UK bonnet, not sure what you call it. One of the few things my dealer showed me was how to close the hood/bonnet such that both latches latched and the hood/bonnet is even. I do it from the side, reaching out so my hand is in the middle of the hood/bonnet, and slam it. Some folks do it from the front. But if you slam it with your hand near the side, the hood latches crooked (so does the bonnet. ).

No idea if that would be related to your issue.

Subscribed.

I'm getting a vibration from the plastic cover over the steering column all of a sudden. If I hold my hand on the plastic it stays quiet. Hopefully the next time I drive the car I won't hear the buzz. (it has been excessively dry here the past two days)

Default Hood / Bonnet

Sorry if my explanation didn’t make sense. I’m glad you’re getting the point of it now. Like I said, on the XK’s this would make the dash rattle like u wouldn’t believe. When someone suggested it to me I laughed & thought no way but it can cause some serious vibrations.

There's a picture in the manual showing the "correct" technique ....

@Rick7311
Hi Rick, I checked under the bonnet/hood. I found two adjustable endstops. With a closed bonnet I could slightly move the right side up& down.
So I raised this adjuster as you mentioned. Now the 'play' is gone. Next time I go for a drive I'll pay attention to know if its solved ..

Like many things, that's missing in the 2014 manual - glad they added it. It just says to hold the hood open 12-14", and let it fall. Don't think that works reliably.
