I have a 14 F-Type that the window was open about an inch and a little bit of rain water got in there was no standing order but the carpets were damp however the car would not go into gear. I dried it out for a couple days leaving the windows open top down in the garage and it started and drove fine for several days now it's malfunctioning again the only way I can get it into gear is to open and close the door lock and unlock it with the remote and then it will start and sometimes go into gear sometimes not. I don't know where to start I was thinking about taking the seats out and seeing what's under the carpets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The water came in the passenger side. Both carpets were damp no standing water.
Thank you for that I'll try to get the passenger seat out and get the carpet up and see if I can find it. I have dried it out for several days and it worked fine for a couple days now suddenly here we are a week later and it's acting up again.
Ok then skip the fan and dehumidifier. Plug into the OBD2 and check the codes to see if anything shows up. But first pull the carpets and disconnect all the big plugs and air out. I would disconnect the battery ground first in case there is still water pooled somewhere.
Don’t pull the seat, just pull up the removable passenger carpet pad. Up towards the front there’s a carpeted panel you can pull out to reveal the fuse box and Central Junction Box (CJB).
Okay I have bad news for myself I thought I posted this already but I don't see the post so I'll repost it just in case maybe I'll get some people laughing at me apparently this car got wet a long time ago I opened the trunk to disconnect the battery and it was an inch of water in the bottom of the trunk. The fuse relay in the middle was completely rusted I mean rusted and the water in there was reddish brown and it had swatched all around and coated everything so the whole compartment was covered in rust water. I removed that center fuse relay and ordered one on eBay I'm not sure that's my only problem but I'll start there the only problem the car has is not staying in gear or going into gear I'm not sure these relays these relays are going to solve the problem but I'll start there. What a mess it looks like the water came up about an inch almost 2 in so that one fuse relay is bad there's another fuse panel on the firewall there in the trunk that the bottom inch got wet I took the plug out and the bottom two prongs were Brown the tops were clean so that told me that that's where the water got to which which confirmation of water level. There's also auxiliary battery back there I'm thinking that's probably not harmed I did not remove it I don't know what's attached to it that might be harmed that'll be next but I'm thinking I'll replace the fuse block first and try it and see what happens and if it's not corrected I'll just keep going any suggested and sorry appreciate it this is really a mess this is my fault you're not paying attention this car's been under a tarp and not driven my bad lesson learned. Terrible.
