Default Way to make mirrors NOT fold when lock?

Does anyone know a way to make mirrors stay out when you lock the car?

Sure, look in the manual under how to manually raise and lower the spoiler!

I was just going to start a thread about this. I do NOT want the mirrors to fold.

Again, check the manual. My mirrors did not fold. I pushed something and se them to fold, so it can be done.

I think you push the both soft buttons at the mirror controller and that will do it.

But again, check that manual out big daddy.

Honestly, I don't think people come here to be told to check the manual, but ok, I'll go ahead and do that "big daddy".

It would take a knowledgeable person fewer words to just be a cool dude and answer the question.

Just my 2 cents.

You got the answer to your question and yet you grip at me, tell me I'm not knowledgeable. Great.

So, if I understand those threads correctly -- it is not possible without dealer reprogramming to stop the mirrors from folding when you lock the doors?

No your solution does not work. The question is how to disable auto-fold of the mirrors when you lock the car, *not* how to make them fold or unfold manually from the buttons. If you comprehended the original question, you would not have said "read the manual" three times in this thread so far.

If I am wrong and this works somehow, I'll be happy to be corrected.

It would seem that way.
Why do you not want them to fold? a question not criticism.

Fair point - it's not really necessary. I just think the car looks better parked with the mirrors out but the door handles pushed in. It is always indoors, so ice and freezing the mirrors closed will not be an issue. First world problems....

I recall somewhere that someone was able to find a workaround for the folding mirrors upon lock for occasional use, but does not prevent it from automatically happening every time (ie. for photoshoots).

Ah, here:

Someone in the same thread said he paid the dealer $35 to have it programmed too.

Couldnt agree more. Number one gripe about the car.

I just bought a new GLC43 AMG over the BMW X3 M because of a few things the Bimmer didn't have......one of them was the auto folding mirrors when you lock the car! I love being able to see if the car is locked from 100' away.....

YMMV
