Just from memory, but the auto fold of the mirrors should happen when you close and lock the door - either by pushing in the handle or use the lock button on the key fob.

This should be the standard settings, and if you want the settings to be changed so that the mirrors do not auto fold when locking the door, this has to be done by changing these settings at a Jaguar dealer (workshop). It can not be changed via the menu.

I don't know if you can "manually" fold the mirrors from inside the car, but if possible I think you will find the settings for this in the menu (and maybe only if the car is at standstill with ignition on but engine not running).

I don't know if all F-types comes with power folding mirrors as standard though and/or if this is a part of the seat memory pack? Knowing if you have that pack should be easy. The el. operation of the seats and memory buttons are found in the upper front corner of the doors.

If you do have the power mirrors fitted then the default setting is they fold when you lock the doors and unfold when you open.

You can change this from the dashboard when the engine is not running. I'm pretty sure i have seen the option

If you want to fold both mirrors whilst in the car press and hold both mirror selector buttons for a few seconds and they will fold in.

Hope this helps

I could not find out how this could be done some time back, as I (at that time) did not want the "auto fold" as default.

When I asked the JLR dealer how this could be changed, they told me that this was only possible to change at the dealer via settings through the OBD-port - and not through the menu.

The reason (I was told) was that their experience was that the mechanisme in power folded mirrors when not used over some time, had a tendency to dry out/get stuck and fail. It was therefor better that they got the neccessary movement each time the door was locked/unlocked.

They were willing to change the default settings for me, but would not recommend me doing so - so I did not.

Yeah my bad Arne, my memory served me wrong there.

You can only change the mirrors in regard to enabling reverse dipp via the vehicle settings menu.

Interesting point as to why the option isn't there though. To be honest i'd like to see it as an option. I could see them getting broken if they froze over.

I thought it was kind of strange too. As you say it would have been nice to have it as a menu option, so it could be turned off in the winter.

Mine is tucked away in the garage during winter though, so for me it's not a concern. But for those using it all year and live in a cold climate, I could also see them froze over and getting broken.

So, if I understand those threads correctly -- it is not possible without dealer reprogramming to stop the mirrors from folding.

I don’t think anybody’s found a cure for it yet.

Wonder if there's a dedicated fuse.

Trouble is, if there is a dedicated fuse and you pull it then you have completely disabled the mirror fold function and you can no longer use it if you want/need to (eg by holding down both mirror buttons at once).
All the evidence points to "auto fold on lock" being a software setting which may possibly and only be disabled using engineering mode in SDD.

There's not a separate fuse. I found the wire to disconnect. It is in the door. But as noted, I think nobody really wants to completely disable the power fold feature. I'm going to ask about getting it programmed when I go in for service.

Not very useful for backing out of the garage.
