Default FOBs HELP PLEASE

I don't get it. Have been going nuts trying to program FOBs. One that came with car did not work. Ordered another thru Ebay. It didn't work. Took both to auto store and tested them, both showed they were not transmitting.
Took them apart and cleaned boards as specified on a thread. Neither worked.
While they were apart I noted that the buttons press against a rubber board cover and the rubber makes contact with the boards.
How the heck does rubber make an electric contact work???
Am I missing something? I find it hard to believe 2 FOBs would both not be good especially when the Ebay seller told me he used it before he sent it to me.

No far to go before I completely lose it. I have had car 3 weeks, all the posts on here have helped me correct, tail light short, mirror replacement, power top issues. Need an answer to question in order to get some sleep.

The Disks on underside of the rubber buttons are actually conductive. I put an Ohm Meter on them and got about 100 Ohms. If the disks are missing, no way will a FOB work.

The fob I have recently obtained, will not pair to my MY vehicle. According to Graham, "The previous spec LJE2610AB ran through from VIN A11051 to A30644. The one you have, LJE2610AA ended with VIN A11050." My VIN is A34265, so I need the 'LJE2610AC'. On the one I do have, LJA2610AA, the rubber button pad has no disc's to make conductive contact with the gold coils. Instead, when the button is pressed with the rubber pad removed from the case for cleaning, several small black pins extended out from the 'button bulb'. I noticed the same on all the other buttons, and particularly on the unmolested button, with it's pristine condition, due to low use as it pop's the trunk. So I was able to get a close look with a magnifying glass, and noticed that on the more worn buttons, all the pins were not extending out from the rubber bulb on the bottom, and had to have bits of rubber shavings and damage from use removed, so that now all the pins in all the buttons extend out when pressed, I imagine it was caused by grinding the button as it aged to make proper contact.
