Advice please ... on what parts to pre-order
Hi guys, Having rebuilt my front suspension last week, I am planning to re-do the rear next. I have seen a few posts from people who have replaced the foam rubber cushions around the top of the shock shaft... I suspect these deteriorate like the ones on the front mounts... ( gotta be a better material than this) My question is, since I'd like to pre-order the parts I need, will I also replace the foam cushion under the top of the spring? Should I order the 3 foam parts for each side ,or 2 ? I am planning to use MOTORCARMAN's method of shock removal. Thanks in advance.
The Bilstein Shocks are complete and include all the foam and new boots. You just bolt them in and the rear is done.
Then just clean/re-grease the bearings in the lower hub and you are good for another 100K miles.

You don't have your car model/year in your signature so...
If a XK8 foam replacement maybe enough, though the blistiens mentioned are only about $100 ea, includes all new bushes/foam.
If a XKR you have adaptive damping, these are 350 ea, so just a bush/foam replacement maybe the best choice.
btw. The half-shaft u-joints should be greased yearly.
