Like the special Castrol motor oil, you MUST use the proper tape appropriate for your Cat, if you want the repair to be permanent, and not just a diagnostic!

hahaha and thankyou therock88 much obliged!.
i covered the holes with a waterproof patch for now and will test with water in 24 hours.
i let my salesman know about the issue and pointed him to this thread as its easier than explaining but i have not heard back from him yet.
when i opened the hatch this morning there was fresh water in the battery compartment and a stream of water ran from the lock mechanism as the hatch lifted.
i imagine tomorrow all should be dry

i just spoke with the jaguar dealership and the manager is quite happy to send the parts for me to install (at my suggestion)
i'll conclude the thread when the parts are installed and the problem is solved.

so the parts arrived from the dealer.
I installed the rubber seal but could not figure out how to install this cover.
Is it possible it is for the vert ?

What you have there is the cover that snaps into the underside of the spoiler. https://www.suburbanautoparts.com/v-.../body--spoiler

I believe what you need is T2R7778 & T2R2187.
