Default wet carpet in trunk

when opening the trunk and lifting the cover on the "spare wheel well" or as i like to call it, "fix a flat" can storage, the floor is quite wet, i assume this is "normal" and there is a fix for it..... any leads?

I wouldn't think that water in the trunk/boot is 'normal'. I'd be pulling the remaining floor covering to see if you can tell where the H2O is coming from.

Look for subtle cracks in the sealer on any body filler seams.

My coupe is water tight, except when I open it in the rain. Check the rubber that the trunk lid shuts down on for potential for water ingress, on all four sides. Also check any rubber bungs in the trunk floor in case the water's getting in from underneath.

BTW, this is my fourth Jag and none of them suffered from unwanted water ingress.

I was going to ask, "What is that silver rectangle in the middle of the picture? A drain hole?" But then I looked and our 'Vert has one too.

As @scm mentions, it sounds like the seals in the rear are either damaged or worn. Start by checking them for damage. You can also try pouring some water down the sides to see where it run (and possible leaks). If you don't see any leaks, the seals may not be making a good connection with the hatch. You can try some "convertible rubber seal conditioner" which can help revitalize the seals. Lastly, there are some drains at the base. Make sure those aren't clogged.

Have you confirmed it’s not wiper fluid? The main tank is back there.

Wow, your pretty laid back . water and electronics is never normal. Should be bone dry 100% of the time. Good luck

lol
pretty much yeah 😜
it'll be quicker to figure it and fix it than it would be to go the warranty route at this point.
My bet is a clogged drain at the hatch

That's a lot of water!! I remember someone sharing a similar story last year (different forum I think the UK one) and it was coming in through a vent to the wheel arch. Had caused a lot of corrosion but dealer stepped up and did full replacement and cleanup outside of warranty

thanks for that thread you found, that car was a convertible, mines a coupe but that could "well" be the same issue 😀
i was too busy driving today to do any water testing 😜😀
after reading that thread, if my water test doesn't yield a result then i'll make use of the warranty

I have owned a LOT of Jags and not a single one had water ingress - that includes my F-Type coupé. So the water shown in that photo is absolutely not normal: perhaps the wewatherstripping has been displaced?

sometimes i forget that humor/humour doesn't translate well to text.
obviously a swimming pool in the trunk/boot of a $92000 car is not "normal"
lets hope the dealer doesn't try to assure me that it is.
(there he goes with that humor/humour again)

i dont imagine its the trunk seals as if it were that then it would drip onto the carpet, making that wet also.
the only wet carpet is in the bottom of the hidden storage space where it gets wet from the water sloshing around beneath it..... but technically it also does not make sense that a blocked drain could detour into the inside of the trunk
