Default What Battery Type?

Got an "All Weather" Deltran Battery Tender. The first instruction is to not subject to rain or snow. Go figure. It will charge either a lead type or Lithium battery but you must select which before using. I've looked all over the Jump leads terminal box and can't even find the battery! Nor have I found any indication as to which battery is installed in my car. The owners manual says the battery is to be changed only by "Qualified Personnel." I guess that leaves me out. Would someone please tell me which battery this car has? If I don't respond promptly I am so sorry. I'm a certified techtard and I will be surprised if this even posts. In any case thank you folks for the help you have offered so far.

Your car has an AGM lead-acid battery. The battery is on the floor of the trunk, and there’s an easily removed panel over it.

There are a number of threads here about how to install a battery maintainer, so you’ll want to learn how to ‘search’ the forum. It’s preferable to not connect the maintainer straight to the battery terminals, as this would bypass the Battery Management System (BMS) sensor that’s integrated into the ground lead that connects to the battery.

One option is to connect it to the ‘jump points’, on the right side of the engine bay (looking forward.) Check you Owner’s Handbook for more info on the jump point.

Also, some battery maintainers/tenders have an AGM setting and some don't but those that don't usually have at least a lead/acid setting.
I have used the same maintainer for the whole nearly 10 years of F-Type ownership now with zero problems and it is one of those with no AGM setting so I have just used the lead/acid setting.
