I think he's talking about indicators that don't all illuminate at once but "creep" across the light area in the direction you're turning - sequential lights I think they're known as. I hate them - think they look tacky, but hey! What do I know?
Yep, it's the indicators in the mirrors.
The ones that come from factory are an old parts bin piece that they introduced back around 2009, used in all kinds of Jags and are a bit weak. There are different replacement versions available since then. The sequential motion in mine is really quick so you don't notice that so much but they also have a much stronger and even light than the OEMs. When not lit they are grey so they blend in better with my mirrors. There are also black ones out there. A really nice little OEM+ upgrade IMHO.
There is no hysteria here per-se. In a big failure, MIL will come on, if you pay attention you might see it, and you better pull over right then. If you are driving at night, sure - if you are driving during the day in a spirited fashion, you may not see it for a minute or two. Observe this video around 7:30 on:
This case was not a coolant hose failure but would manifest similarly (actually much more abruptly). Watch how long it takes him to notice. I was driving up to lime rock here in CT having some fun around the corners in my 3rd gen 4runner (yes that's right), and my thermostat started sticking, car temp gauge was pegged when I finally noticed it, because I was paying attention to other things. Luckily, that thing is bomb proof. These Jag motors are fragile.
Anyways proceed as you will, just some friendly advice, PM on these cars goes a long way vs. waiting until something fails. Plus it sucks being stuck on the side of the road.
I think the main reason to why Misha noticed it so late was that he wasn't used to the car and had a gopro covering the center display.
I would never have missed such a warning and had it on a couple of occasions in an XF with the AJ126 where different parts of the system failed on different occasions. The most dramatic one was when the water pump suddently shat the bed and dumped the coolant all over the engine during some hard driving on a hot summer day... low coolant warning and briefly thereafter a big cloud of steam from under the hood. Slowed down, parked up by the road and all was fine after having the water pump replaced.
I had the low coolant warning once on the Land Rover (same V6 engine). Pulled over literally straight away. All was fine and an easy fix
Have seen a number of posts on here over the years - low coolant light came on, decided to limp the last few miles home, engine overheated and massive damage
My advice a when it comes on, treat it like a stop immediately. Don't drive any distance. You don't want the overheat warning - that risks real damage..

In addition to the CTEK, MityVac, disable start/stop items mentioned, the things that were most joy-producing for me were:
a) replacing almost new P-Zeros with PS4s even though the Costco tire shop called to say, "You really don't need new tires." I replied that I had the Michelins on my 300ZX and really wanted them on the Jag. Absolutely no regrets;
b) going with low-dust brake pads. Porterfield is often mentioned here but I found a set of Brembo ceramics that perform well with relatively little dusting;
c) this may sound silly, but I often hear a positive comment when people see the JAGUAR/leaper puddle lamp on the ground when the doors are open.

@bfrank1972 I’m using ODB Fusion with a BT odb adapter on an iPhone. I’ve heard the torque app is superior in both offering and community support but this has supported my basic street/track needs across multiple cars over the years.
The PIDs are pretty limited for the aj133 but there is enough there to set alarm thresholds for basic conditions that are important to me for fun on the street and track days.
Just an example but I have it set show each gauge in blue until I’m up to temp, and then flash yellow/red if I am running a little too hot

That's awesome, used to use Torque on my old track prepped FR-S, have avoided with the F-Type because of the battery drain thing. Not sure my Ebay ELM 327 will play nice. Pretty cool we get metrics on diff and transmission! Wonder what else is available on these cars. Thanks!

I mean, it's got all the important stuff, and this Fusion is more flexible in that it runs on both Android and iOS, and will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
