The F-Type is a car that's prone to turn-over. It's a (mostly) impractical two-seat sports car. I can't imagine selling mine, but lots of people get married, have kids or go through some other catastrophic, life-ruining event that forces them to give up more important things. Like having a badass car.

You'd have to have lost your reason if you want to sell!

Maybe a personal financial crisis or failing that to buy another F Type!

Dealer service. I have called a dozen times in the last two weeks to try to schedule an appointment. At least. I had an appointment for the day of a snow storm - called 5 times the two days prior to cancel. Left messages. Nobody. Nothing. Fast forward to today and another at least 5 calls over the last week. Finally gave up and spoke to the sales team who was able to get someone to help me. Don’t even ask me about the last time I brought the car in. One of the two advisors spent twenty minutes fixing a stapler (yes, really) while customers waited. Love the car but don’t have time for this. I need to find another dealer. Never have I had service like this before.

It appears 2 years happened earlier than I expected, but I'm still keeping the F-Type around for a little while.

My f type is the first car I've owned that I like more after nearly 3 years than I did at the outset. It has its inconveniences as a strict 2 seater really mainly because it doesnt have anywhere to put files and things inside the cabin, as the XKR did, but it is fine as a slightly compromised daily driver. I am liking it enough to extend the warranty and defer a decision on whether or not to sell for at least another 2 years. I would consider changing it for a manual which I think would be more suited to the 280kw engine, but the numbers would have to be really, really good as manuals in heavy traffic can be a poisoned chalice.

That said, while it isnt an issue for me at the moment, getting in and out is more of a mission than in some other cars, as it sits very low (yes I appreciate some other cars are lower still). Also I tend to think that base models with the one suspension setting are over-represented in second hand models, personally I wouldnt have been able to tolerate the ride in a base on 20"s.

5 years in and still happy with the F Type. Longest I have ever owned a car. When i look around the only cars that interst me is an R8 convertable '15 or newer and the Merc AMG GT convert. Both still too expensive versus my Jag.

I will probably sell my SVR next year to buy a Mclaren 570S or 720S, not decided which yet.

Well if your financials can handle the 720s price. It's no question you should go with the 720s. It's a beast. I've driven both and the 720s is just a massive evolution over the 570s. But honestly it only makes sense if you are actually going to drive the car hard which I know you will.

I’m fairly certain I would not be interested in a car made out of Legos, regardless of performance.

Yes the 720S is a performance master piece, 0-100mph in like 5.5s, doing LC in one once its on boost just warps your vision.

But the 720S is so much car you can never near its potential, its limits or really get it moving around on the road, even if you break the speed limits everywhere, not in the dry anyway, in the wet yes.
Reason I like 570S is its a more playful car, have more regular passive suspension setup, plus I like the idea of the Spider, just been able to wind the rear window down and also drop the roof when required, but when its up it looks a hard top and due to the carbon monocel II tub going convertible has no real downsides over the coupe, plus the 570S probably save me 30-40k financially too.

But yes the 720S is a monster, they have done the quarter mile in under 10s stock, which is mighty, 570S is around 11s dead so pretty identical to my SVR from a stand still and a little quicker once rolling due to the 570S weights several hundred pounds less.

Big decisions to make, but a good one.

SVR is staying a little while longer yet, its such a superb all round car.
