Default Window tint recommendations please

So just want to tint the 2 rear quarter windows and the rear tailgate window, don't want a total blacked out look, just want to take the clear look off the rear, thinking of 35% tint, any pics or recommendations please.

The darker your interior the darker the tint will appear. I have darkest legal which here is 35%. In my car with a dark interior, it is pretty dark - see picture I posted in the official pics thread the other day

Cheers in that case 35% would appear quite a bit lighter than it shows in my car - it would be noticeable but not so dark that you could pick your nose without people pointing and laughing. Especially with the roof panel open. My first XF had an ivory interior and cream roof lining and even with darkest legal tint you could easily see inside it. As above, you can see straight through it. The darker cover in the back of the f type will dim it down a bit, though.

I'll snap a picture. I did my rear three windows 5% and my side windows 35%. You'll get both perspectives.

rOk, here are pictures of the car in different light so you can better see the perspective. Again, this is 35% fronts, 5% rears. Its also on the same day, just the first pics are at my house and the last at my brother's.

This first one looks darker than it is because you are looking through both windows and there is a bush in the background

This next one shows the difference when there isn't something in the background and the angle of the light is different
Finally on this last one, you are looking though the window with the windshield behind it, which is not tinted. Same car on the same day.

I had all mine tinted @ 20% mainly for privacy and lots of sunshine and heat . If you tint you rear side windows the darkest color it would make the car look different ( meaning great) because it would look no windows and look like the body of the car. After the rear windows, you might consider tinting the rest of the windows . IMHO

I'm not sure I would want all mine tinted that dark for night driving. It's a moot point where I live, though. With the legal limit set at 70% out here, and that's with a note from a dermatologist, I'm already pushing things.

35% is max allowed on side here in Fla. I did that and am glad. It helps a lot, and works great.

Thanks all for the replies, eeeeek that's a great shine you have on your car, here in Ireland you are not allowed to tint the front screen or front door windows, think 35% would set of the look of my 4 pot nicely

those new style headlights really look the goods. Not so wild on the "drop in" style vents but they are growing on me...

powerhouse:

I think a 35% tint on the back windows will compliment that color combo quite nicely. The back windows always look darker as it is difficult to look all the way through the car from the outside when looking at the back three windows. I'll admit, my 5% tint is a bit dark at night, but the camera helps when I'm backing out of parking spaces and like they said in "The Gumball Rally", "what's behind me is not important".

I presume your referring to the vents each side of the front bumper Bruce, you get used to them, if there was some sort of led/fog light inserts in them i think it would look good, maybe that option is in the pipeline for someone
