Blessedly, my wife has a G37 sedan and I've been driving our "beater" L322 Range Rover instead of the XJ most of the time. Otherwise, I most likely wouldn't consider such a change. Having 3 four-door vehicles is just a bit redundant now.
Based on those additional facts, the choice is clear: Get the F-Type convertible and get rid of the G37 instead. Keep the XJ as 4 door luxury sedan are rare and still useful for their secure trunk. Get a V8 Range Rover Sport for your wife 2016 or later.🏁

Haha, I wish. No way in hell my wife would ever use the XJ or any sort of Range Rover as a daily, she's too scared to drive them.

I guess I should come clean now...I bought the F-Type last Thursday. Man, do I love the way it drives. I immediately pulled Fuse 43...that exhaust note is just perfect.

Why don't you drive a Turo rental for a few days, see how you like it? That's what I would do.

Coming from a tuned '20 C43 Wagon to a '16 FtypeR-

The FtypeR ride comfort is just fine, the wagon (imo) had a much firmer suspension even in 'Comfort' setting, which i ran all the time on the street.
The Meridian sound system doesn't hold a candle to the Burmeister in the Merc or even the Harmon I had in my previous X5...but it's not far off that one. However I consider myself an 'enjoyer' of music and I like to blast it a lot, even over the sound of the V8 (blasphemy!!) and I think it's fine. I could definitely see serious audiophiles being let down but I'm not one to go about spending bread on upgrading speakers/amps/etc.

The #1 thing I like so far about owning the Ftype is the rarity. You know that old fable 'once you buy a car, you see the same model everywhere?', it was true for my Wagon...which was already a rare car since it was only ever sold in Canada and not the US so the market isn't flooded...but I haven't seen another Ftype on the road since i bought it in October. Sure it's the wrong season to see them out and about, but I am enjoying the 'exclusivity' if you will.

This is absolutely true in my area as well. I almost never see F-Types around here. The XJ, yes sometimes, but still rare. I finally did see a beautiful black V6 F-Type coupe a month or two ago in a parking lot, and I said to myself "Wow, I almost forgot how beautiful those cars are."

I have had my car for over three years and live in New York City and have maybe seen a half a dozen or less since then.
