Default Xpel on ultimate black metallic

So I was about to pull the trigger on a Ceramic Pro coating, and after washing my car today, noticed a couple of tiny chips from rocks, etc.. Now I am thinking about having it wrapped in Xpel instead..

I've read that on some black cars, the Xpel can slightly dull the look of the paint.. So I'm kind of torn at the moment. Not sure if my wallet can afford both Xpel and Ceramic Pro.. I know they are for two different purposes, but if it were one or the other what would be the pick?

Anyone have experience on Xpel on an Ultimate Black metallic finish?

My vote is Xpel if two little chips are bugging you already.

It's not that it dulls it...but Xpel itself has a bit of texture that is noticeable when up close. SunTek is invisible.

Hi James --

I had my XF which had the Ultimate Black metallic finish wrapped with Expel and I did not see any degradation in the shine of the paint. I had the full hood done which did not require seems and you could not tell the hood had any film on it. I would definitely recommend the film over ceramic coating as you cannot buff out or fix stone chips without repainting.

James,
I had Xpel Ultimate wrapped on the entire front of the car, which is Ultimate Black, and on the sills. I also considered ceramic coating but decided it wasn't necessary, and I was concerned that it make the Xpel more obvious. I'm happy with the results, though, no one notices it except me, and then only when I look carefully at it. Also, a good idea to maintain with Xpel Protection Film Sealant and Protection Film Cleaner from Xpel, especially if you go with the Xpel Ultimate.
