Since I have the 6MT, an aftermarket shifter surround just isn't going to happen. I thought about some vinyl wrap, maybe carbon fiber, but haven't found the motivation. Too many more important things to do.
Is that the Car Pro ceramic for plastic and wheels that you are talking about? If so, I have used that on my wheels with great success.

Yes, that's it. It also did a great job on the original "wiper cowl" on my '91 Miata. I think it rolled back the age by 20 years, but did nothing for the same piece on the Jaguar. Different material

I can't remember with certainty, but think I also used it on the panel at the top of the hatch where the shark fin mounts. I thought that was plastic but it isn't. It's painted, and whether it was the DLux or just the blistering sun, the paint crazed. Since it was on the side that gets more sun where I park, I'm blaming that. I swapped it out for a salvage piece and am considering wrapping the original. If I see some carbon fiber wrap that matches the real carbon fiber pieces I've got I'll give it a try.

I had actually purchased that product for both wheel and plastics, but in the end I decided not to use it on the plastics on a brand new car. At the time I had come across some references to people having it turn their plastics all white. More than one too…The theory was that sealing in brand new plastic prevented the plastic from then being able to off gas, leading to the issues.

Maybe I would have been fine, but I didn’t wanna take the chance. My goto stuff for exterior and engine bay plastics is (use it on door sill plastics too):

Reviews say people really like this stuff, and my experience has been great…

My car was a few years old and I was trying to restore the shine. It wasn't bad, but I could see the little swirl marks.

Maguire Mirror Glaze has a plastic cleaner and polish that has worked good for me. I also use it on the exterior mirror mounts.
