Default 0W-40 Castrol Edge European Formula

Is the European Formula Castrol Edge 0W-40 an oil that you would use in your 5.0L SC? Walmart had a 5 quart jug for $22.97.

The "Made in Belgium" is my particular choice of poison
right now.

A lovely pinky colour when it pours out of the jug.

Does this oil meet the spec listed in your owners manual? Is it the correct viscosity?

Don't think the Jag 5.0 wants 0w40.

It wants a 5w30. I would not use the 0w40. Go find a w30 oil you are comfortable with.

(I'm assuming it's the Jag V8 5.0 supercharged engine)

Been a jaguar owner since 1996 and always used Castrol oil, in older cars used conventional oil but in newer ones use synthetic, Have seen a few heated postings on oil. do not want to start one more but I use 5 w 30 in my 2007 xj8 and have never found castrol edge with the recommended spec. have bought it here in Ontario and all over the United States, Dont do many miles per year now i am retired but still change oil two times per year, like i said dont want to start any agro but just wondering how important the spec is,,,,, thanks in advance,,,,,Dave 2007 xj8

Spec and viscosity always trumps brand name.

Based on page 171 of the Owner’s Manual-SAE 5W-20 meeting specification WSS M2C925-A only. So I’ll be returning my 0W-40 back to Walmart.

Back in the late 70s' , I bought a used 1970 Corvette with a LS6 454, 450hp and a M22 Rock Crusher trans. The top oil at that time was Castrol 20W-50, which seemed to be the ticket in south Texas in the summer. Wish I still had that one.
So I'm learning a whole new set of rules on viscosity.
