Recently my 2000 xj8 refused to crank. No warning or problem before. I have removed the starter ( making up new bad words while doing so) and tested it straight to the battery. It spins even if I don't connect both terminals. It will spin on either terminal. How do I wire it to see if it turns with the key? Putting it back in I will use a 10 cm long bolt with a nut on the threaded end to reach that back hole. Oddly enough I have the same issue with my 97 xk8, I will post a different thread for that.

 

Check the power stud on the 'false-bulkhead' to make sure it is not overheated/melted.
