Hello
I am a long time lover of the 05 through 09XJ Vanden Plas. I recently bought an 08 XJ8L because it had low mileage and unfortunately the dealership did not tell me the navigation climate unit was not working. The screen is totally black but due to my experience with other jaguars I know where all the dials are for the climate AC etc. it works but again screen black. Temp won’t go lower than 75 but air is cold. The Jaguar dealer wanted $9200 for a new navigation climate system which was out of my budget. I bought one on eBay for $450 from an 08VDP. can you tell me if installing this is a simple process? The Jag dealer tells me it might require programming and they are not sure until they charge me for 4 hours of labor. I have friends who are mechanics who are willing to do it but they also said it might require special programming Can anyone help me out? Thx
I leave your question here for the moment. If it doesn't get answers from other XJ owners, I'll move it to the X350 forum.
A check of the Parts Catalogue shows the X350 Navigation Screen has different types depending on with or without heated front windscreen and with or without TV. Provided you have sourced one with the same combination as your vehicle, it should be suitable although others who have had this same issues will be able to advise whether the replacement will be plug-and-play or require programming. My gut instinct is it will need to be programmed but that's only a guess as I've never had to change one.
