raising the driver's seat like you mention is not recommended due to safety considerations. By raising the seat mounts, you are subjecting the bolts and body structure to more stresses during a crash. I would say you would be better off getting say a 2 inch thick piece of firm furniture foam and creating a seat cushion out of that to raise the driver up some. If you are needing more than that, then you simply put a piece of 1/8" laminant board between each layer of 2" foam. This will allow the foam to provide the strength to lift vertically.
Interesting, I didn't think of that. My wife is using a pillow now but says she cant see the front of the car to judge parking , curbs and such. We have a little evidence of that too.
Bob, as long as she can see over the hood, there is a button on the center overhead console with the letter P on it. As she is approaching a place where she is going to pull in, have her push that button. Now, as she pulls in, the car is going to beep at her as she gets close to objects. There are a few different beeps to tell you if you are approaching something with the side of the car or the front of the car. It als ochanges tone as you get closer. If the tone goes solid, then she is within a foot or so of an object. That may solve all your issues. If she is having visual problems looking over the hood, then I would be looking at the foam and boards with a nice cover. You go to a local auto upholstery shop, I am sure they could create something to the exact height you wanted and possibly even match the leather. Not sure what it would cost, but I am sure the cost of that cushion is less than what is costs to replace the front end of your car.
That is so, so helpful. We are still trying to figure out all the options with the cameras and all. Sometimes it seems to beep at nothing and other times it beeps at everything. We'll continue to read up on it.
Thank You so Much!!
Best,
Bob
