The Front Crankshaft Seal Part # AJ811449 is common to JLR 5.0L V8 and supercharged 3.0L V6.
A special tool, #303-134, is utilized for spin-in installation (clock-wise) and removal (counter-clock-wise).
The 11 May 2011 edition of the XK Service manual cautions to not over-tighten.
Similar, an XF reference advises that lubrication is not required upon installation.
However, there is no mention of a sealant for the seal to front engine cover interface.
Is there additional information information in a TSB or elsewhere?
Thanks.
Bill

Bill, looking in my service manual on the 5.0L engine, it talks about installing the seal, torquing it to "26" (not sure if this is n-M or ft-lbs). Seeing how it mentions no lubricants, that would imply that you shouldn't use any. Using a lubricant would change the torque that it needs to be torqued to and since there are numerous warnings about over tightening this seal will cause damage to the engine, i would read that to mean you don't need to use anything on the seal when installing.
