Broken Mode & Eject buttons
Hey Everyone.
I went to the dealership today because I had a couple issues on my 2013 xjl awd
The first one: The two buttons "Mode" & "Eject" on the main panel don't work. When I press them nothing happens. The other buttons to the right do work, ie: AV, Music Note and Seat icons. When I press the buttons I can tell there is a slight difference in touch between the 2 broken ones and the 3 working buttons. The dealership says I need to replace the Front Aircon panel Part #C2D49755. This is approx. a $800 part. Is there another way around this, or am I S.O.L.? Can't believe 2 non-working buttons is a $800 dollar fix.
The second issue: My USB port inside the front arm rest is not working properly. It will charge a phone, but it won't read USB sticks anymore. I've tried different USB's and they all don't read. "Please insert a USB." The format is fine because that never changed and it worked flawlessly before. The cost to fix, approx: $240. Again, am I S.O.L., or is there a less expensive fix?
I appreciate any advice. Thank You.

I once had a similar issue with a Mazda Xedos 9, the whole panel had to be replaced. I just went on-line and found a used on the internet, and fitted that. Once you've swapped out, you can look at the back of the switch, and usually you find a standard push button that can be bought from electronics shops or onlne. Repair it and there's your spare ready to fit if a 2nd failure occurs,
It's not a common part among 3rd party sellers. Commercial vendors have it listed approx: $700- $800. I just cant believe something as trivial as a broken button leads to an asinine price fix. Thanks for your reply.
