Default cannot align without the rear differential replaced

Good afternoon
It's me Beardslee a year later. I joined yall in the summer of 2021 and glad I did.

Just spent Friday morning at a brake and alignment center in Traverse City MI.
I was told to align our 1999 Vanden Plas we needed 2 new lower control arms at $927 each and another $650 in labor. Okay but .......
then was told the Jag also needed a new rear differential, because it is a 4 wheel alignment.
They didn't even look the differential up, because along with the quote for rebuilding the brakes I was already over $5,600.

Why does one need to replace the rear differential to align a 1999 Jaguar?
Also please let me know if y'all know of a good source to order the parts.

Thanks and I hope your summer is going better than ours

What reason did they give? Did you ask?

Offhand, I cannot think of any likely reason

Cheers
