I have a 2015 XE 25T, both my heated seats worked fine all through the previous winter, however, I have recently switched them on due to the colder weather, the drivers seat does not heat up at all and you can just about feel a little bit of heat on the passenger seat when on the warmest setting. I have checked the fuses and they are fine. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, I am based in Manchester UK and wondered if anyone could recommend a member or Jaguar specialist familiar with these issues based in the North West UK.
The heater elements are easily damaged by kneeling on the seat or putting a heavy load (box shape rather than human!) on them. Here's the diagram from JEPC to illustrate the heating pads:
My first action for troubleshooting would be to check for relevant DTC's (error codes) but that is expensive if you don't have dealer level diagnostics. An alternative is to check for voltage at the connector harness which would determine whether it's a harness or heating pad fault.
It's not a difficult job to dismantle a seat and replace the heater element but it does take time and care so the labour cost will be quite high. Prepare yourself for a nasty shock if you do need the replace a heater element. The base one is around 140 UKP and the squab 130 UKP.
